How'd Purdy get the starting gig? Let the kid play and quit wanting to reach into the trash heap.
The problem is he is not good in the pocket- never has been, all the way back to Duke and through ND. He is in some ways very similar to AR. Get him in space and let him create, he can be good, he can create explosive plays. Make him sit back and process, he is slow to see it and his accuracy is MAYBE a slight uptick from AR. Lot's of 3rd and longs and lots of long fields.

Maybe true coming out of college, but definitely had a more decorated college career and has been a student of the game preparing and learning from Daniel Jones.

Daniel Jones and Riley Leonard, ala Johnny Unitas and Earl Morrall.

Fortunately, Jones and Leonard are both younger and more mobile than Unitas and Morrall were when they played for the Colts between 1968 and 1971.

Younger, more mobile and way way shittier

Outside of Earl Morrall's 1968 MVP season and 2 games that Morrall played in 1970, Unitas and Morrall were not very good quarterbacks for the seasons that they played together between 1969 and 1971 ...... in fact, they were rather shitty themselves.

Daniel Jones' was a better quarterback in this 2025 season than either Morrall or Unitas were between 1969 and 1971. And yes, I am taking into consideration the fact that the rules protecting quarterbacks and inhibiting defenders are way different now than they were between those 1969 and 1971 seasons. Jones was a good quarterback on the whole this year, particularly before he broke his left fibula. Unitas and Morrall were slightly below average quarterbacks from 1969 through 1971 who were playing on great teams.

His pocket awareness seemed ok Sunday, albeit a small sampling to judge by. Not a lot to say about his accuracy, again small sampling to go by. How he handles a day of blitzes every other play? Don't know, that is what we need to find out. Again, Brady and Purdy had a lot of negatives around them as well which lead to their draft positioning. I'm all for seeing what he has with the entire offensive playbook open to him. He has been in the system long enough that it shouldn't be scaled back for him. He either has it, or he don't and we are back to square one. I mind you, square one sucks at the moment!

Why go after Gabriel when we have Tyler Warren on the roster?

The Colts committed to Daniel Jones when they traded for Sauce Gardner. There's no reason to change that now. There's a new procedure for Achilles tears that makes the recovery time 6-9 months, which is plenty of time for Jones to be ready for 2026.
