Per Jay Glazer he tore his Achilles tendon and is done for the year.
I was never the pay him guy. I also understood he is not our biggest problem. He was capable of winning more games then he lost with the weapons he has. I guess we are going to find out what Riley has. He wasn't as horrible today as I thought he would be. I have guarded optimism. He definitely didn't act like it was to big for him today. I guess we really don't have a choice but see who he is.

He's going to have a hell of a test going on the road against Seattle.

They're all gonna be a test from here on out. I just want to see the playbook opened for him and an honest chance. I know we were all seduced by the early season success. We knew deep down this is the Colts we expected. Why not find out if this kid can do it. If he can that money they were going to spend on Jones can be spent on defensive help where we need a lot of pieces.

I wonder if this is similar to Tyrese Halliburtons situation where a leg injury that he tried to play through led to the Achilles injury.

Was thinking the same thing. The Halliburton effect. Man, got seduced into a false sense of playing with big tits (Early season record) to reality that they were just paper shoved in a bra. I have a serious love/hate relationship with this team.

So what happens to Daniel Jones? It is very unlikely he can even play next year. What a tough break, I suppose insurance will kick in and maybe, if he fully heals he can come back, but this could be career ending?

??? He may not be ready for training camp but I don’t think it will keep him out all next year.

I think it is a little different situation because Haliburton strained his right calf which was definitely a precursor to the right Achilles injury. Jones had been playing through an injury to his left leg and then suffered the right Achilles injury. Sure, you could say that Jones was compensating for his left leg injury which led to different movements and the Achilles injury on the opposite leg...that can happen although it is less common than further injuring the same leg. But I also wonder how much the weather and field conditions played a factor. It was raining and they should have prepared for wet field conditions. So he was probably wearing something different than what he typically wears when playing in good weather or indoors. And picking the wrong cleats for the conditions can sometimes cause Achilles injuries, too. Last edited by AlwaysSunnyinIndy; 12-08-2025 at 02:51 PM. |

Even if Jones has the repair surgery today, it is highly unlikely that he would be ready to play by the beginning of next season. He will not just miss training camp, he will probably miss the first part of next season.
With no existing contract for 2026, I don't wee how any NFL team would do more than sign him to a one year "show me" contract at relative low dollar amounts (somewhere in the $10m - $12m range) so they could start him on the IR, activate him when he is ready and have him battle for the starting postion through the season with whomever they have starting (or as a qualtiy backup if their starter is set and they think they want that extra insurance for the end of the season and playoffs). Alas, I think the timing is terrible for the Colts. I don't think we can take the risk of signing him to a long-term contract and signing him to a one-year seems like treading water. Interesting times.
