Default Will Andrew Luck ever be inducted into the Ring Of Honor?

If you take a merit based approach, there’s little doubt that he deserves a spot. But, his decision to retire dealt a mythic blow to the team’s fortunes and set them on a rudderless course towards mediocrity.

I think that the day will finally come, but only after the passage of time, only after they find a new QB, and only after a solid run of playoff appearances.

o

The concept is similar to that of players such as ) Gale Sayers ) and ) Terrell Davis ) making it to the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame ...... players that were great for a relatively short period of time whose careers were cut short due to injuries.

I vote no.

Fair or not (on merit), there is an emotional aspect that exists to Ring of Honors. There’s no magic number, etc that gets you in.

He left this organization on considerably different terms than his college coach Jim Harbaugh. The latter is in the Ring of Honor while the former is not and I’m completely happy with that.

Had Andrew Luck retired because he couldn't walk anymore or something, you'd still be disappointed... but it would be a completely different kind of disappointment. What are you going to do? He can't even walk.

But he voluntarily left. And he did it two weeks before the start of a season where we had real aspirations of doing some damage in the league. Probably a tough one for people to get over even after some time.

Potentially ugly ceremony.

Another factor is that after the Peyton years the bar for the RoH is much higher. It took 15 years for the Colts to induct Tarik Glenn in the RoH, and he was a damn good LT who pretty much locked the position down for 9 consecutive seasons.

As far as the OP question: I'm on the fence but leaning towards no. What he did on the field should probably put Luck in, but fucking over the team and retiring right before the season started was too bush league IMO. If he had done the team right and retired in the offseason then I would say he should be in the RoH.
