With the No. 54 pick, the Colts take Dayo Odeyingbo, a defensive end from Vanderbilt.

Doubling down on the DE position.

And it'd be a big surprise if Indianapolis makes another pick tonight. Would probably take a 2022 pick to move up into the third.

The Colts select Vanderbilt’s DE Dayo Odeyingbo, who is coming off a torn Achilles. He’ll be cleared in August return to play late September/October. Plenty of teams had a first round grade prior to his injury.

Ian Rapaport says Odeyingbo isn't expected to be cleared to practice until August, probably can't play until October.

Of course, the same stuff was said about Julian Blackmon last year, and I learned my lesson there. We'll have to wait and see.

Morocco Brown said had Dayo Odeyingbo come out last year, he would have been up there with Javon Kinlaw.

Kinlaw was drafted by the 49ers at No. 14 last year.

"At a point you’re healthy enough to play, but you don’t necessarily feel better," he said, noting he saw flexibility/explosiveness limitations on his tape.

Dayo Odeyingbo says that now that he's a full year-plus past the Achilles injury, he finally feels like himself again.

Odeyingbo also says that it's big that he gets to have a full offseason of just technical work, training...

Last year, when he was finally healthy, Odeyingbo joined midseason, and practice is mostly about game-planning.

Also says he's lined up at the Big End spot so far.

Brings to mind (again) the concern for Julian Blackmon coming back from his achilles. I expect he'll play this season, likely earlier than you might think. But getting back to form is a different story.

Rushing the passer is the hardest thing to do in football. It is the only way you can play great QBs and have a chance-you have got to put pressure on them. It is the biggest thing we have lacked as a defense these past few years. Ballard knows this so he keeps trying. I'm with you in being excited about seeing what these dudes can bring. Fingers crossed

His talent level is good but I don’t think he’s a team kinda guy in the locker room.

I looked it up, and Dayo has Bubba Smith like size.

Not so impressive for Dayo.

But think about Bubba being Dayo's size in 1968.

Back then he would be going against 240 to 265 OL, rarely taller than 6'3".
