Default 3 contracts to extend/make cap friendly

3 contracts next year if left alone will count for 80 million dollars against the cap. Buckner, Pittman and Nelson. All 3 need to be kept, but since all 3 will be in the last year of their contract, it's important to renegotiate them into more cap friendly contracts.

Thoughts?

Agreed. It's a shame that AD Mitchell hasn't developed though. Because if he had, I would have been fine with letting Pittman test the market. Nothing against Pittman, he's definitely one tough SOB. AD should be following MP around and learning from that dude!

When it's 3rd and 5 to 10 yards, Pittman has always been the man. He's a possession receiver, and a damned good one. Now that they have Warren, they've become option 1 and 1A, but I love Pittman, he's definitely blue-collar.

Hmmm. That’s a tough one. My first instinct would be to say resign Quentin and Pitt and restructure Buckner. I think Nelson is the most important of the three, personally.

I think with a quarterback like Jones, offensive line is key.

Obviously, we have seen teams go crazy with void years to lessen current year cap hits in order to push them forward to when the cap ceiling will be higher.

I am not saying that Ballard should embrace the Eagles way fully but if this season ends up with us a contenders, then the window might be open enough that Ballad can do all sorts of things to lessen current year cap hit with extensions.

I would not worry about the cap. Ballard has has great discipline with it during his entire time here; I have no doubt he will do well with the cap going forward.

As much as I have doubts about some of Ballards skills as GM (drafting DEs for one and his adherance to RAS scores for two), his handling of the cap has always been spot on.
