Default Is Ballard a buyer?

It's well established that we are not only a playoff contender, but perhaps something much more. So...my question is, should Ballard be a buyer, and at which positions, and what players would you target, at what cost?

Gotta be a buyer, and have to get a DE now that Ebukham is out. I say fuck it, go for broke, go get Myles Garrett and start terrorizing these OL's. Also, saran wrap off, JTT has to play now.

I would love to know what the deal is with Jaylen Jones and when he is coming back. We probably need to add another back there regardless. Not sure who that is, but need another body back there period.

In my rat's ass of an opinion, Ballard has shown A LOT OF PATIENCE in the face of fire ...... almost everybody in the Western Hemisphere has been calling for his head over the last couple of years, and he remained true and steadfast to his plan ...... when he first took the job in January of 2017, he said that he intended to build A COMPLETE TEAM, not just a team that was overly-dependent on an all-world quarterback such as Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.

And guess what ??? Ballard has done just that. He has built a complete team that is not overly-dependent on an all-world quarterback. He's having the last laugh, as the 6-1 Colts are finally making his plan/dream come to fruition ...... so based on Ballard's patience and his behavior up until now, I would highly doubt that he would start mortgaging the future to enhance the Colts' chances of making it to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2009 for this solitary 2025 season ...... he built the complete team that he said that he would, and I don't think that he wants to start taking rash risks that could potentially cost the Colts in 2028 and beyond.

Which is not to say that I don't think that Ballard will make ANY moves ...... he very well might, and I would not have a problem with it if he did ...... but the OP posed the question l "At what cost?", l and my immediate reaction was what I wrote in my previous post.

The time is now do whatever you gotta do we need an elite pass rusher so I’ll go in order of who I’d go after

1. Trey Hendrickson- seems like a no brainer with Anarumo but bengals might still feel like they have a shot in that division

2. Chase young- Saints are terrible and he can still wreck games, might not fit the mold of a Colts player but that may be exactly what this defense needs

3. Max Crosby- another game wrecker that requires attention and would free up Buckner

This reminds me of the Rams in 2021 when they traded for Von Miller. I don’t think they win the Superbowl without him. He was a huge factor in the playoffs. The Rams gave up a 2nd and 3rd round pick to get him. Miles Garrett is this years Von Miller. Would you guys give up a 2nd and 3rd to get him or Max Crosby? If you truly believe that the Colts are a pass rusher away from being a Superbowl winner, then do it. I say go for it.

I was wrong about that ...... Ballard bought, and Ballard bought big-time.

The Colts haven't really supplied any details...but considering that he injured the hamstring during training camp and then re-aggravated it later...I would not be surprised if it was a Grade 2 strain from the repeat injury. 4 to 8 weeks recovery time is the typical recovery time - given that he has already re-aggravated it once, I doubt the Colts will want to rush him back to action.

Overthecap.com says we have $4.1M to work with. Maybe we find a way to restructure a couple of contracts to get it done, but I doubt we can do it. Heck, this team might just be good enough to make it all the way if we just had the defense at full strength in the playoffs, and will get Walley back next year. All indications are he is very good.

To answer the question, I would give us draft capital to get a SB win, but cap dollars might be a deterrent.

Kinda funny. At the beginning of this season, most of us forecast a dismal season record wise. There were a few optimists predicting 11 or 12 wins, but I'm not sure they would have laid any money down for that prediction. Many were calling for getting rid of Ballard, Steichen and starting over.

Now, there's talk of the Lombardi and hoping Ballard shores up the one or two defensive weaknesses, getting a DE and a CB by surrendering future draft choices and paying enormous sums of money to these unhappy studs.

I hope Ballard can make something happen, we do need to upgrade the pass rush, but at what cost?
