It makes sense that they're working on being a quality running team. The longer they have the ball, the less time this D has to fail.

And, the biggest gift to a short, quick strike passing attack is a great running game because that draws the defenders into the box so that the edges are clear for the swing, wheel and out routes.
Once the secondary sucks down to cover those, then going over the top because easier.
It all works togeter but a solid running game helps all of it.
