I have no idea why Jonathan Taylor disappears in those situations, Old Colt ...... the only thing that I can think of is that as great as Taylor is when he has a good QB, (or at least an average QB with high mobility, like Carson Wentz or Anthony Richardson) is that perhaps defenses can zero in on him and take away any element of surprise ...... if you have an atrocious quarterback with no mobility, then the first thing that defenses will do is concentrate largely on stopping Jonathan Taylor.

Or perhaps, as you suggest, he just gets demoralized when things aren't going the team's way, and he gets frustrated when defenses stop him easier because they know that he will be getting the ball ...... that's also possible ...... even though these guys are highly-paid professional athletes, they are human and subject to the emotional frailties that everybody else is.
