I don't think it changes the calculus too much, because he would've called the TO anyway... but they reset the clock to 0:37 when Steichen made the call.
If they get the stop, we're looking at 30-32 seconds, minus a 7-8 second punt, leaves us with 22-25 seconds at our own 25. That's not counting the punt return which is another variable that's part of the calculus.
There was a different, but similar situation against Miami. 3rd & 3 with 1:21 left, long FG range, they call TO. Dolphins pick up the first and start using their TO's. As it happened, they got it down to 0:22 and took a 10-0 lead. After the touchback, Pittman caught a 33-yarder and we got a field goal, it was significant, and we celebrated.
That's why I bring up Reich. During his tenure, he always went for it on 4th and guys always screamed about it. When it worked, he was "ballsy."
