And playing injured is dumb ...... not just because it hurts your team, but because it hurts your own statistics and your own legacy.
Every year we hear that a pitcher who had a bad season was pitching injured for 2 or 3 months, and I'll never understand that.
I have been a competitive long-distance runner for the better part of my life, and I understand the emotional pain of having to miss a race that you were eagerly looking forward to, but it's worse to force the issue and run a crappy race than to focus on your recovery.
