Yeah that was my line of thinking as well - aggregated the injury and knew it would get him pulled. Lied about it and the lie makes him looking even worse. Bad look either way. He only ran like 10 yds on that run, I believe just getting back to the LOS. The most significant thing was bearing the weight of another 250+ lbs player trying to drag him down.
