I wasn't sure if that was just some coach-speak and not wanting to elaborate. Or was it frustration with AR? If the latter, I kinda felt that was a risky thing to do, given how the game almost slipped away. WIthout AR, the offense lost a few dimensions, like the RPO. Even though Flacco played fairly well, there was definitely some stalled drives.
I think there is some frustration in all of this. The question is what is the frustration? Is it AR not really getting out of harms way- so basically not doing what he has been coached to do- especially in a game where at the time there is no benefit to the extra couple yards opening up the hit opportunity? Or is the frustration with what was probably a "are you good to go back in" "yes" and then immediately coming back out? I could see Steichen being kind of ticked at that as a coach. He is counting on you to be straight and either say yes and go full tilt or explain you can't. But for it to go the way it did, I could see Steichen just saying fuck it, done dealing with you right now, we're going to go with Joe for the rest of it and in turn sending AR a message about how quickly the NFL can show you that Not For Long is applicable to absolutely everyone in the league.
