The Colts are 8-6, and there are a slew of teams that are even with them or just ahead of them in the standings. In addition to the Texans there are the Bills, the Browns, the Bengals, the Broncos, and the Steelers that are all tied or within a game of the Colts and of each other, and subsequently there are at least 12 different scenarios that could wind up playing out by then that could factor into if and where the Colts fall in the AFC post-season seedings. Plus, the Colts still have a reasonable chance to win the division if they win out to finish at 11-6 and the Jaguars lose 2 games. The Colts could be 10-6 heading into that final game, they could be 9-7 heading into that final game, and they could be 8-8 heading into that final game. And in the first 2 scenarios (10-6 or 9-7), there is almost no possible way that the Texans losing that game against the Titans just now would have wound up making the Colts' 17th and final game of the season meaningless. A division title and/or a Wildcard berth and/or a playoff seeding will be on the line when the Colts take the field that day, unless the Colts lose their next 2 games to fall to 8-8 and get mathematically as a result.

With a houston loss today there were a ton of scenarios where we didn't need to win the last game. Now there are only a few.
