With 7 games left to play, I'm not especially concerned with where we stand in terms of playoff seeding ...... all of that won't really loom significant until the final 2 or 3 weeks of the season. Right now, way too much can happen for me to be thinking in terms of passing one team and/or falling behind another team.
The more significant supposition would be, how will the Colts fare in the 7 very winnable games which they had left on their schedule ??? With Joe Burrow going down for the season with an injury, the only game left on the Colts' schedule that appears to be truly daunting is the Steelers game ...... and even there, the Steelers are not currently looking like a juggernaut team such as the Chiefs and the Eagles ...... the Steelers are better than the Colts, but not by leaps and bounds.
So if the Colts play up to their capabilities, they could very likely finish this 2023 season with a record of 11-6, or even 12-5 ...... but as we all know, the Indianapolis Colts of recent years have been very unpredictable, both in games in which they had been expected to win AND in games in which they had been expected to lose. Last year the Colts beat the Chiefs, and barely lost to the Eagles by one point ...... but their overall record was 4-12-1. In 2019, Jacoby Brissett and company beat the eventual Super Bowl champion Chiefs, but finished that season with an overall record of 7-9. In 2021, the Colts had a record 9-6 record heading into the final 2 games of the season. They had 1 beatable team and 1 horrible team (the Raiders and the Jaguars, respectively) standing in their way of a playoff berth and a division title. So what did our beloved Colts do ??? They lost a close game to the Raiders, and they got beaten thoroughly and decisively by the 2-14 Jaguars.
