In recent years, the Colts have always seemed rational, professional and measured in their organizational decisions and personnel changes (whether you agreed with those changes or not). Now it seems they're in full panic mode. If this is Irsay's doing, I think we are in for a long dark period. Whether you defend Ballard or not, I don't think he'll stick around if his authority is being undermined. Maybe Irsay will bring in Antoine Bethea as GM?
My hope is that Saturday is just a placeholder until the offseason, when there might be a better selection of candidates to replace Reich. Maybe he can provide an outsider's perspective on the team until then? I don't know, even then, it doesn't sound like a great plan to me. The better angle would be to appoint one of your current guys as the interim coach. Why not reward Bradley, whose squad has played fairly well?
