I agree with the author of that article that almost all of those teams were undeserving playoff teams with no shot of advancing to the Super Bowl, but they all were not necessarily easy outs in the playoffs ...... only 3 of them were beaten soundly in their first playoff game.

You may be correct about every team not being a tough out, but the citation that you used was not a good one to make your point. More than half of the teams in that article either won their first playoff game, or lost a nail-biter that went right down to the wire.
The Colts losing to the Jets by a score of 41-0 was a good example that you alluded to, as are the Colts' victories over the Broncos in 2003 (41-10) and 2004 (49-24.)
