I’ll agree with some of that. The marketing machine and NFL corporate image. Tying itself to the military so much they actually had a say in the kneeling protests. The NFL has cultivated its brand, all the old videos with the players, dramatic music, and Riefenstahl like imagery. I wasn’t surprised that some of the fans booed. It flies contrary to what we have associated with the NFL. I will say they are highly compensated though, gladiators were still slaves.
