It also bears mentioning that as a part of that trade, the 49ers signed him to a five-year, $87.5MM contract ($17.5M average annual value) with $45 million in guarantees. So you'd need to be okay with doing that as well if you're going to complain about the Colts failure to make this move. Not saying its a bad or good deal, since I don't know a whole lot about Dee Ford, but just that the financial aspects of these kind of deals are often ignored and the focus is only on the draft pick compensation.
