Geathers and Mitchell

Got to keep playing geathers right? Otherwise the play the young guys message is bs right?

You also have to reward performance so benching Mitchell after 2 games played at a high level would send a bad message. If anything coming back from a concussion limiting Geathers longer is beneficial. So really it negates whatever point you are trying to make.

Agree. Geathers is the future and should be brought back slowly, especially with his history. Going with youth would and playing Mitchell to protect Geather’a health are not mutually exclusive.

Kind of hard to move Mitchell to the bench after this …

INDIANAPOLIS — Mike Mitchell has made quite the impression in just two weeks’ time.
Today, the National Football League announced that the Indianapolis Colts safety was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his standout performance last Sunday in the team’s Week 7 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Mitchell’s day included seven tackles (one for a loss), a forced fumble that was recovered by linebacker Darius Leonard, and then an interception, helping lead the Colts to a 37-5 victory that snapped a four-game losing streak.
Mitchell is the second Colts player to be named AFC Defensive Player of the Week this season, joining Leonard, who earned that honor after his 19-tackle, one sack, one forced fumble performance Week 2 against the Washington Redskins.

You reward play on the field. You don’t play youth just to play youth.

Just asking how to handle it. If your philosophy is no vets and only young guys to build the core, how do you keep geathers on the bench? Geathers wasn’t playing poorly.

I am not trying to make a point. When geathers is healthy does he remain the starter?

I agree but that goes against letting the young guys play to build the core philosophy

Who has that philosophy, you seem to be constructing a strawman.

Not really any different than playing Ebron over swoop or even Doyle which IMO Ebron is the best TE on the team
