I'm guessing that a lot of the recent IR moves weren't necessary strictly speaking but since the season is fucked (I won't say we're tanking), Ballard has decided not to risk further injury to guys who are expected to be contributors next year, and instead give them extra time to heal up and be ready to go. Plus he'll be using the last couple of games to evaluate depth. It's basically pre-pre-season now.
