Richardson took first-team snaps during both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work during Thursday’s organized team activity, sharing time with Minshew, the veteran who was signed to be the Colts’ backup and potential starter if the team is need of a placeholder.

Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen said the plan has always been to split first-team snaps between the two quarterbacks, a practice that isn’t unanimous. According to reports, the No. 2 pick of the draft, Houston’s C.J. Stroud, is not taking first-team snaps yet, playing behind Davis Mills; Carolina recently gave No. 1 pick Bryce Young first-team snaps despite the presence of Andy Dalton.

According to Steichen, the plan is to continue splitting first-team repetitions between Richardson and Minshew throughout the spring.

Isnt it a little early to prime the pump for hype to start Richardson?

Richardson will need to start earlier than later. Give him some reps to get on the same page as the first unit, and decide who starts Week 1 later on.

Not too early at all, his athleticism gets him on the field early and use that to create and dictate advantageous situations

Even if they planned to sit him the whole year I would hope he would get a good share of 1st team reps, how else would you expect him to develop?

He will be the starter.

When he was with the Eagles, Gardner Minshew mentored rookie Jalen Hurts.

Now with the Colts, Minshew will apparently mentor rookie Anthony Richardson.

Gardner Minshew may wind up being the proverbial l Steve DeBerg l of this generation ...... De Berg served as a veteran mentor for Joe Montana (1979), John Elway (1983), and Vinny Testaverde (1987.)
