Reggie Wayne will be back with the Colts for another season.

The franchise legend is back for a second season as the team's wide receivers coach, he announced Tuesday via Twitter.

"Excited to be back for another season as wide receiver coach for the Colts. Let's get it!" Wayne said on Twitter.

Wayne's status was up in the air when the Colts fired Frank Reich at midseason last year. Reich spent years recruiting Wayne to get into coaching, a venture he finally took up last season. The year did not go as anyone planned, as the Colts finished 4-12-1, fired Reich at midseason and replaced him with Jeff Saturday on an interim basis.

Wayne coached a room of players all aged 26 and younger that showed flashes but also fell victim to constant changes at quarterback, offensive line and coaching. Parris Campbell rebounded from three injury-riddled season to play 17 games and turn in 63 catches in a contract year. Second-round receiver Alec Pierce created some explosive plays before struggling to produce at times in the second half. Michael Pittman Jr. caught 99 passes for 925 yards but only found the end zone four times.

The hope for next season is that they'll have the same starting quarterback consistently. The Colts own the No. 4 pick in the draft and are widely expected to take one of the top passers, perhaps through a trade up. A key part of building that player will be through the playmaking Wayne's room can provide.

Wayne, who was a six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion during his 15-year playing career with the Colts, signed a two-year coaching contract last spring. At the end of the season, he said he planned on fulfilling that but acknowledged that the decision would be up to the incoming coach.

The Colts hired Shane Steichen as head coach right after the Super Bowl, and he's spent the weeks since building out his offensive coaching staff. He's hired offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter from the Jaguars, running backs coach DeAndre Smith and offensive line coach Tony Sparano Jr. from the Giants and tight ends coach Tom Manning from the University of Cincinnati, according to various reports. He has also decided to retain defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, though special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone moved on to the same role with the Browns.

So we kept Reggie and the entire defensive staff? Not bad considering the utter chaos that Irsay created.

Good move, I think the receivers had good growth under his tutelage.
