Inman to Visit Detroit

@RapSheet
The #Lions may not be done adding players in free agency: Source said FA WR Dontrelle Inman will be on his way to Detroit later today for a visit with the #Lions tomorrow. He had 28 catches for 304 yards with the #Colts last year.

He'd be nice to bring back. I wonder if the Colts want him though. He was out of football before getting picked up mid-year. You would think he'd jump at just about any reasonable contract the Colts offered him.

Agreed. Maybe Ebron should tell him nothing to gain there. Just look at me man your going rhe wrong way!

I’m not saying he’s a dime a dozen but he also wouldn’t be that difficult to replace with better production (via the Draft).

I don’t think I’d sign him prior to the Draft. Depending on how that shakes out, we could definitely do worse, but like I said, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a guy with more upside.

I’m fine bringing him back and I’m fine keeping him. I’m not fine with keeping him and letting that preclude the Colts from drafting a guy with more upside nor am I okay with letting him go and replacing him with some combination of Pascal/Rogers/Johnson/Fountain.

I want him back at a reasonable price. I clearly remember this receiving corps before we signed him. Receivers that can know how to run routes and can catch a ball are not a dime a dozen. If they were we wouldn't be talking about wr being a need. I'm betting we sign him at a reasonable price.

Probably not really up to inman. May not be alot of teams interested.

I don't think he's guaranteed a roster spot, so it could be throwing away a few million dollars. Ballard seems to be direct with players, so I wouldn't be surprised if he told Inman to look for more of a sure thing.

You can't blame Inman for being terrified. I wouldn't want to be compared to Cain on the field either. It's not even fair.

If you think about it, the receiving corps will already be pretty different this year, likely improved, and Inman may not have a spot.
Last year we were running with:
Hilton
Inman (the effective #2)
Grant
Pascal
Rogers

with contributions from the TE group mainly from
Ebron
Cox

The 2019 group will look more like:
Hilton
Funchess
Cain
Fountain
Rogers
(possibly 1 new FA or draft pick)

with contributions from the TE group hopefully being
Ebron
Doyle
Cox

So question marks all around (is Cain for real? can Fountain pick it up and contribute? will Funchess be the answer at #2? will Doyle stay healthy?) but on paper this is a fairly hefty facelift for the receiving group, and on paper looks a lot better than the 2018 group.
