2020 Draft Class signings

With the last 2 CBA's, most of these rookie contract negotiations are more formalities rather than hard extended negotiations.

Still good to get these out of the way and signed.

Danny Pinter is the first drafted player from the 2020 class that has signed:

It begins. Colts sign 5th-round pick OL Danny Pinter. He's due a four-year, $3.643m contract with a $348,696 SB under rookie wage scale.

He is going to be valuable when Kelly inevitably goes down(injuries).

I don’t think he has ever played center.

I thought he played a bit in college, as a backup sort of role.

From Stampede Blue's article about his signing:

"Yeah, that's kind of been something I have really been working on because throughout this process was kind of recognized to me that that was probably the reality. I've been open about how willing I am to play wherever a team needs me. So I have really been trying to work on my versatility – working as a center, working as a guard and then working as a tackle if I need to go do that," Pinter said. "So I am more than willing to do whatever they need me to do."

He was originally a TE, so maybe he's got hands too. The highlight I posted about 6-7 replies back shows him grabbing a TD coming off of right tackle.

Ehh off season work outs as a center doesn't inspire confidence. I wouldn't trust him to make line calls, or even hiking consistently. If we need someone in a pinch ok, but I wouldn't put him there as a backup this season.

Enough with the negative waves.

The center doesnt always do the line calls. Think Nelson could handle it. I think the new Qb could manage it too

The Colts selected OC Javon Patterson in the 7th round of the 2019 draft. He started 42 games at Ole Miss prior to his selection (i.e. 3 1/2 year starter).

He tore his ACL in June of 2019 and never made TC.

Patterson will be depth for OC primary and OG secondary.

Pinter will be depth for OG primary and potentially OC or OT secondary.

Clark will be depth for OT primary and OG secondary.

My dark horse UDFA is OT Carter O'Donnell out of the University of Alberta. I like his film, his athletic performance and his experience. He was a UDFA for a reason but I hope he performs.

I think those 4 guys are O-Line depth for our fav five.
