Former Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula has died.

Shula coached the Colts for 7 seasons from 1963 through 1969, and coached the Dolphins for 26 seasons between 1970 and 1995.

Shula's teams made it to 7 world championship games in his 33 seasons as a head coach, winning 2 and settling for the Silver 5 times. His Colts lost the 1964 and 1968 world title games. His Dolphins won the 1972 and 1973 world title games, while losing in 1971, 1982, and 1984.

Shula's 1972 Dolphins team remains the only undefeated world champions ever in 87 years of world title games (1933 through 2019.) They defeated the Washington Redskins by a score of 14-7 in Super Bowl VII.

His 1973 Dolphins team repeated as world champions, soundly defeating the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII by a score of 24-7.

The 1974 Dolphins attempted to 3-peat as world champions, but were stopped by the Oakland Raiders in the divisional playoffs in the famous "Sea of Hands" game.

In addition to his legendary coaching career, Shula played 7 seasons in the NFL as a defensive back for the Cleveland Browns, the Baltimore Colts, and the Washington Redskins from 1951 through 1957.

Shula was 90 years-old.
