What that penalty did was keep the Rams' defense on the field longer, and keep the Patriots' defense resting ........ things like that can come into play as the game progresses, particularly from late in the 3rd quarter onward.

It wasn't a particularly crucial one, but the struggling Rams' offense needs ever yard that they can get right now ........ so those 10 right there will help.

It was almost as if the refs couldn't believe how thoroughly the Rams' defense was literally swallowing up the Patriots' offense, so they instinctively called a personal foul on a good tackle.

In both of their Super Bowl victories over the Patriots in 2007 and 2011, the Giants' defense was instrumental.
