Stephen Gostkowski's Turnaround Since Opening Day Nightmare
o
Before kicking the game-winning field goal 2 weeks ago against the Broncos, Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski had had an absolute nightmare of an opening day for his new team ...... he had missed (or had blocked) a kick in each of the first 3 quarters prior to the game-salvaging boot in the final seconds of the 4th quarter. Since that game-winning kick (and otherwise horrible game for him as an individual), Gostkowski has not missed a field goal attempt ........ including going 6-for-6 this afternoon against the Vikings, culminating in what proved to be the game-winning kick on a 55-yarder with less than 2 minutes to play in the 4th quarter. 3 of those 6 field goals this afternoon were from beyond 50 yards (55, 54, and 51.) Last week, Gostkowski kicked what proved to be the game-winning field goal with less than 2 minutes to play against the Jaguars ...... that one was a 49-yarder. Early in the 4th quarter of the Titans' game against the Broncos 2 weeks ago, Gostkowski was literally being laughed at by Broncos fans on nationally-televised asides on ESPN ...... for the time being, nobody is laughing anymore (except perhaps Gostkowski himself.) o |

(vs. STEELERS, 10/25) Gostkowski is 5-for-5 on Field Goal attempts beyond 50 yards ........ but only 5-for-11 on Field Goal attempts UNDER 50 yards. https://www.dailyherald.com/storyima...&noborder&Q=80 o |

(vs. COLTS, 11/12) With the Colts leading by a score of 27-17 early in the 4th quarter, Gostkowski missed yet another field goal attempt inside of 50 yards (44 yards.) Gostkowski leads the NFL in missed field goal attempts, with 8 ...... 7 of them have come from inside of 50 yards. o |
