I mean, it's the right move if he needs surgery and for sure the right term for his long term health, but fuck, he was a huge part of why this season was so fun.

It's the antithesis of what the Redskins did with Robert Griffin III ...... late in his rookie season, he sustained aa Grade 1 LCL sprain. What happened in a playoff game against the Seahawks shortly after that was an absolute travesty. He WAS NOT cleared to play, but the Redskins trotted him out there anyway. He reinjured his knee late in the 1st quarter, AND THE REDSKINS KEPT HIM IN THE GAME !!! ) ) Griffin wound up tearing both his LCL and ACL while continuing to hobble around the field for the final 3 quarters of that game, which of course required surgery.

Griffin III was the Rookie of the Year in 2012, playing to the tune of 102.4 QB rating. In only 15 games that year he completed 65.6% of his passes, 20 TD's and 5 INT's, and rushed for 815 yards for a 6.7 YPC average ...... if the Redskins had not done the unthinkable in terms of recklessness with him, he may have wound up with a long, distinguished career, instead of the abbreviated, decent career that he had.

He was the only reason to be excited, he is that good. At least we have found our QB and coach. This is going to be a long season, already is. AR will benefit from this time He seems incredibly intelligent in a good practical way. I have no doubt he will use this time wisely and we will all be better for it next year. When they rebuild his throwing motion (more like refine it) let’s hope for even more accuracy. Another emotional hit for us Colt fans, enough of this fucking lousy news.

I might add we appear to have found a left tackle, a pass rush and maybe even a number one corner. To me we are looking great for the future, just need to give AR some more offensive threats. This year we just get to watch guys mature, not an easy task to keep on line for Steichen.

It's frustrating to wait like we have, finally get our guy, and then have the rug pulled out so that we have to be patient... again. But this was expected and makes the most sense.

Season can still be interesting. I'm not ready to concede that the rest of the season will be results like last Sunday. Really, as bad as the JAX game seemed... it's easily explainable and remarkable how different things are if we don't have 4 QB turnovers (3 of which were uncharacteristic, unforced, and avoidable).

Now we get to see what our rookie HC does to alter the gameplan.

Before the collapse in '21, remember how fun this team was to watch/root for? Beating the 49ers on the road, spanking BUF, toe-to-toe with TB, beating NE when they were #1 seed...

That was with our QB throwing for like 180yds a game or whatever it was. So this can still be fun in the moment, even though it's not where we ultimately want to be (with Richardson). We've got good players that I like, so I'm still interested.

This is just a suggestion, but let's not kill the messenger ...... Nate-505 should get thanked for the info in the OP, even if it's info that we didn't want to hear.

I think Richardson showed some promise but when I read things like 'rookie sensation and franchise quarterback, I think that is a bit of over hyping. We need to see some consistency before we anoint him the savior.

Nothing is a given but at this point I believe this board would explode if we used our next number one on a QB next year (barring catastrophic injury news) As of now our ‘need’ at QB is filled, finding another new one should not dominate next off season. I completely understand that it may be filled with fools gold and we are back looking again in a few years but barring career ending injury I seriously doubt that.

I think our number one pick should be the best pass rusher available! Our defense has some good pieces in place, and we do already get pressure from time to time, just not consistently...but opposing QBs are just getting way too much time to find their targets!

This sucks for this season, but even more so it sets back AR's development significantly as he's only played in ~10 quarters.

Also, Steichen and Jim Bob are going to have to change up the offensive strategy and make all of these designed runs a thing of the past
