Tyquan Lewis Practicing
Reich said that Lewis will practice today. I'm excited to see what the Colts have in him. All the glowing assessments have come from the Colts, but it sounds like they expect Lewis to be a difference-making 3-technique.

Rather than start a new thread.....Doyle returns to practice today too and according to Reich he may be ready to play Sunday. No news on Vinny....still monitoring the situation.

And here I thought he was out for the season. That is GREAT news!
If Haeg can also come back after the bye week, that is some solid reinforcement for our lines. Man, this draft class has the potential to be something special. Another draft class anywhere like this one in 2019 along with a quality free agent or three could really tip the scales on this squad. As a reminder: 7 games / 12 tackles / 0 TFL / 7 QB Hits / 3.0 sacks / 1 FF / Kemoko Turay 7 games / 07 tackles / 5 TFL / 3 QB Hits / 3.0 sacks / 0 FF / Dwight Freeney 7 games / 07 tackles / 2 TFL / 0 QB Hits / 2.0 sacks / 1 FF / Robert Mathis I am NOT trying to say that Turay is going to be a Mathis or Freeney. I am SAYING that the kid is improving and looking good. Interviews indicate that he is studying the HECK out of film and drinking in everything Mathis can teach him. Also, this: 1 / 05 / DE Bradley Chubb / 9 QB Hits / 6.5 Sacks 1 / 14 / DE Marcus Davenport / 5 QB Hits / 2.5 Sacks 2 / 46 / DE Breeland Speaks / 3 QB Hits / 0.5 Sacks 2 / 52 / DE Komoko Turay / 7 QB Hits / 3.0 Sacks Only 3 rookies have more sacks than Turay: Chubb, LB Darius Leonard (4.0), and FS Derwin James (3.5). Seriously excited by this draft class. Seriously excited. Walk Worthy, |

Honestly, I would rather he not play against OAK and be 100% ready for after the bye week. Ebron and Swoope can man the TE packages against OAK. However, I think Doyle is a BIG part of the solution going forward assuming the O-Line continues to gel. He can beat the HECK out of the underneath routes freeing Ebron and Swoope to starting running intermediate / deep routes helping out our weak WR corps. Putting more downfield pressure on the secondary with TEs will be a beautiful thing for the running game, screen /swing pass game and short routes. Walk Worthy, |

I also wonder if Turay has seen fewer snaps and dropbacks than Chubb. |

This is damn exciting to watch. I'm not sure if Turay has more snaps than Chubb but I know for a fact that Chubb plays on a line with Von Miller and Turay doesn't.

Under contract for 2019 are: DE Jabaal Sheard DE Kemoko Turay DT Denico Autry DT Tyquan Lewis DT Hassan Ridgeway NT Grover Stewart Colts Free Agents are: DT Margus Hunt DE Jihad Ward NT Al Woods DE Al-Quadin Muhmmad Re-signing Hunt and Ward should happen because those guys have shown that they can excel in this defensive system. Re-signing Woods might happen. He has certainly shown up on individual plays but his ability to play through a whole game appears to be diminishing. If we can either lure one big name free agent to Indy (DeMarcus Lawrence, Frank Clark, Sheldon Richardson) and/or draft a rookie stud in the 1st round to put "at the top" of this D-Line, I think we will be headed in the right direction. Can't pass on a pass rusher if there and BPA but I hope they invest a ton in the secondary in 2019 as well. We need both parts of the defense to be quality if we are going to field a top ten defense. Resign Hunt. He's not going to get a lot of traction because of his age. He's the right guy in the right place with the right D for him. Make him a reasonable offer, pay more for the production this year, and keep him for the next 2-3.
