The Colts might have one of the league’s big-armed quarterbacks in Andrew Luck, but that hasn’t deterred Reich and his staff from moving forward with their preferred approach. Crosses, screens and quick outs have been the orders of the day lately, with an emphasis being placed on getting the ball to targets in space where they can make plays. While Sunday’s night practice featured some deeper attempts and shots at the end zone during a lively red zone period, there’s no debating that this camp has been dominated by the short game.

When someone starts paying me for this, then it's a job

I'm too lazy to click the link so I don't know who wrote this but in the paragraph you highlight I think the author is missing a key point....it's because the colts are ADDING the short game to their offensive toolkit that they can capitalize on Andrew's long ball. What Frank is doing is taking the predictability (or what Venturi would call Chud's kindergarten offense) out of this offense so now the long ball will have a meaningful place and be a legitimate weapon. Halle-fucking-lujah! It's about time we have a design that belongs in this century.

Did Venturi really say that about Chud's offense?

I'm psyched about this year. I think its going to be fun to watch what transpires (lets hope anyway) I still can't get over that this team led 5 times going into the fourth quarter in games they lost. That ties for most in NFL HISTORY. And that was all about shitty play calling.

Chud sucked. Worse than Pep

Oh yeah, regularly.....last year he took the gloves off when it came to criticizing Chuckie and his minions.....Prior to last year he tapped danced around the critique in some sort of professional courtesy but he routinely called Chud/Chuck's offense a kindergarten or a coloring book scheme last year. He would also say the local 8th grade football teams were playing more advanced schemes. :D

In contrast he's called Frank's offensive scheme leading edge, progressive 21st century design. He's a bit of a blowhard who likes to pat himself on the back but I mostly agree with his assessment of stuff.

I think Chuck and Chud were actually holding a coloring book on the sidelines and not a Playbook.
