The Washington Post, in a display of common sense rarely seen…
Published their power rankings going into this week’s game.
After the loss to the Rams, they have the Colts in 9th place, followed by the Rams, 4 spots later at 13. |

Wild.... ESPN had us at #28 in preseason rankings.
It smarts a bit that were not 4-0. If there is a silver lining to AD Mitchell's disaster, it may provide a catalyst to renew focus on fundamentals, discipline, and professionalism. Far from a safe bet, but intangibles can improve tangibles, like 47.4% red zone TD%... the Rams game burns my arse, but the Colts have good problems to fix. |

The Commanders beat the Chargers. The Patriots beat the Bills. The 49ers beat the Rams. This week's power-rankings ought to be very interesting. o |
Rankings are like opinions, which are like assholes. Everybodys' got one and a lot of shit comes out of every one of them.
|
Regardless of the rankings, they are currently the number 1 seed in the AFC.
I would have put those odds at 10,000-1 for week 5. |

As far as rankings go, I will take whatever the media gives us, we still need to beat some better teams to build confidence. The Rams loss stings like mad. |

I usually ignore these rankings as they are like some odd ball beauty contest that just make me scratch my head in how they were derived.
Bottom line - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the saying goes. |

I don't necessarily think much of them either ...... I just treat it as some fodder to gab about in between games. o |
Colts are flying up there pretty quick!!!

The Chargers JUST BARELY beat the Dolphins today on a last-second field goal, 29-27. The Colts' defense played very badly against the Cardinals today, but they are not the only good team that struggled with lesser competition ...... sometimes you have to win games when you play badly, and that's what the Colts did today. o |

Unsung Nonstarter/Role Player: l DE Tyquan Lewis Lewis has never been a full-time starter in his eight seasons with the Colts, but they continue re-signing him because he gives them consistent production on the field. Lewis has three sacks, four tackles for loss and 10 QB pressures despite playing only 41% of the defensive snaps this season. His inside-outside versatility makes him a key depth option because he can play multiple roles and provide flexibility. He's also equally effective against the run and pass. --- (Stephen Holder) o |

Best Off-Season Addition: l QB Daniel Jones The one-year deal for Jones was characterized as competition for Anthony Richardson Sr. in the spring. In the end, it turned out to be so much more. Jones' decision-making has helped the Colts become No. 1 in the NFL in yards per game (385.3), yards per play (6.5) and points per game (33.8). He is second behind the Cowboys' Dak Prescott in QBR (79.3) and is completing a career-best 71.2% of his pass attempts. --- (Stephen Holder) o |

Yahoo has the Chiefs at #1 with a record of 5-3 ...... and I'm OK with that. I think that the team that could give the Colts the most trouble in the post-season is the Chiefs ...... and I suspect that that will be the 2025 AFC Championship game match-up. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article...031409919.html o |

The Chiefs have lost both of their games since then, falling from 5-3 to 5-5.
