Colts-Ravens Joint Practice

Tried following along from live reports earlier. Apparently the QB's looked good, don't remember reading anything about pressure/sacks, so assuming the OL was good. Read that JT and Hebert broke some nice runs.

Biggest thing I kept reading was that AD Mitchell was busting everyone's ass in both individuals and 11-on-11's. Letting BAL know it, too. He's been good most of camp. Aside from AR, that's probably the guy I want things to click for the most. He's got top-level receiver potential.

Also read the defense got better as they went, at one point Jackson was 2-of-7 or something and guys were saying he was getting flushed out a lot and also some coverage sacks. I guess RZ was better for BAL and their TE's, but apparently D did well most of the day.

And that's without the bulk of our CB's since Walley apparently got hurt midway through. Haven't read an update on his knee, but how brutal can things get so quickly? Looks like the strength of your team one day, four days later, the entire group is hurt.

Hunter Wohler picked off Lamar Jackson, that’s another name I keep hearing on sports talk radio from multiple different reporters

Twice. Think I read once from LB, once from Safety.

Not that any of you care, but I hate the Ravens more than any professional sports franchise in the world.

Some brief mic'd up footage of AD Mitchell. Liked seeing Nelson screaming and excited.

Yeah, I heard the guys on the "Locked On Colts" podcast say that the Colts pretty much dominated the scrimmage.

I'm excited to see the QBs tonight.

AR just got destroyed. Ojabo was an absolute free runner coming from ARs right, nobody even looked at him.

AR was looking left and got smashed like a tackling dummy. Immediately came out and Jones came in to run a quick handoff and punt.

Yep. Not good. The announcers said he was carrying his arm gingerly too, but then he was on the sideline not getting looked at so hopefully he's ok.

Also, I know we have some backups in, but our OL and coverage teams look like garbage right now .

His pinky is either broken or dislocated... I'm guessing dislocated since he stayed on the headset. It was pointing sideways like Baldinger's.

AR, Bortolini, Goncalves, and Warren were the only starters. I don't if Giddens was supposed to pick up Ojabo, or if AR was supposed to account for him... But nobody even looked.

apballin 08-07-2025 08:04 PM

Gotta see the blitz, not very common in preseason but still and as a QB you know you have inexperience at tackle. He stared to one side and held the ball

Ok, saw the hit and them him standing w/ the headset on the sideline, but I didn't see anything else. Hope you're right on it being just dislocated.

And Seriously? How fucking stupid is it to be playing your starting QB(s) in a preseason game with 3/5 of your starting OL sitting?

Well, its a great idea if you don't want him to succeed. I missed the 1st few minutes of the game...but, other than Warren, I didn't see any of the skill position starters out there either.

Hoopsdoc 08-07-2025 08:25 PM

Special teams is a disaster. Doesn’t bode well for the season.

I feel like I’ve seen this movie before. Injured quarterback, inconsistent everywhere else

Warren looked good for AR and Jones. Got him out of there after two or three series.

Warren is still in there.

Hoopsdoc 08-07-2025 08:37 PM

Why would they not go for it there?

If you’re the QB you know that, so I’d suggest getting rid of the ball quick.

He just said he didn’t care if they brought in Tom Brady he’s gonna compete.

ChaosTheory 08-07-2025 08:42 PM

That hit wasn't a backup OL issue, it was a blown read. Probably AR's.

Not disagreeing there (although the line getting completely blown up on other plays is definitely a backup OL problem).

But having AR (or Jones for that matter) play with mostly backups increases the risk of injury and doesn't give you an opportunity to properly evaluate him.

Also, while Raimann, Q, and Smith don't invidually need the reps the OL unit does since they have 2 new starters out there.

Hoopsdoc 08-07-2025 09:13 PM

Jelani Woods sighting.

Called for a false start before his inevitable season ending injury later in the game.

When he leaves with an injury, everyone take a shot.

Yep he’s another guy that can get the fuck off this team

That's a good point. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but if we roll all of the starters out next week to play w/ Jones then it's pretty hard not to say that Steichen wants Jones to win the QB battle.

I'm thanking the post for the info, not because I'm happy about the outcome.

wasn't perfect from him but the kid was flying around making tackles

Anybody still think Anthony will ever be able to survive a complete season in the NFL? 1/2 a season? A couple of games? You can't build a team around this guy, trade him and get what you can and draft a QB 1st round next season unless the Browns let Dillion Gabriel go, I'd take that guy in a second!

No, there’s no way. We just have to muddle through this season, wait for the inevitable house cleaning that’s coming, and hope they get it right next time.

It really sucks going into a season knowing how it’s going to play out.

They can win with Daniel Jones at QB, everything revolves around Jonathan Taylor

"Ever" is a long time. He just turned 23, although it's a sport in which a career can end in a single play.

Last year, he played a little more than 1/2 of a season. He may, or he may not. We'll find out eventually.

It would be insane to think anything otherwise.

While it's not impossible they put something respectable together, it feels highly improbable and we've seen this script before.

A lot of fans are overreacting about a preseason game. I will wait until we lose week 1 yet again before I overreact.
