Shadeur Sanders
As bizarre as it might seem, if he gets past NY, he might go into free fall. If he’s there at 14, do you pull the trigger?
|
Fuck no
|
He's a 2nd round talent in my mind. Someone who will probably be an NFL starter, but on the lower end, a Geno Smith or Teddy Bridgewater type of player.
We have two players on the roster who i believe are better talents. I would prefer to grab Quinn Ewers in the 4th or 5th round. He has some upside to develop, but i am happy to stick with Richardson, Jones and Bean. Although i don't think Bean is ready to play in the NFL as a starting QB. |

At this point, I wouldn’t mind the Colts taking him. Why not take a flyer on a guy like this?
It’s not like our qb room is hall of fame material. |
5th round no sooner but also, its likely he brings too much media attention and/or distraction, so no.

We already have a two headed QB controversy. |

Sanders has talent. He’s a 70 percent completion guy. Who gives a shit about the distractions? Draft Sanders, cut Jones, and let them compete. Or let all 3 of them compete. |

I really think the Colts should take him if he’s still available. |

Is the Deon factor that big? |
I wouldn't object to him from this round on. His talent is more than a 5th rounder, and maybe this whole experience will both humble him and light a fire under him.
|
Welp, it's a moot point now. The Browns finally got him in the 5th round.
From the reports I've heard he didn't want to play there initially. Granted, who can blame anyone for not waiting to play for the Browns or to be in Cleveland, but still, that's really funny. |
I have no idea what Cleveland is doing? They must be going to trade one of those rookie QBs?

That said, Shedeur didn't do himself any favors either, and apparently was a horrible interview who was disinterested. Seems like the perfect mix to drive a guy with some decent talent way down. |

Just curious what others think of the Sanders ordeal.
Was he drafted too high, too low, or just right? i mean, not to the right team, because we all know that he was. Also, what do you make of the prank call? |
Quote:
B. I think that his father did him no favors with his behavior and catering the entire offense to fit his play style. Who knows if he can adapt to someone else's play style? C. I think that, if true, the rumors of his poor attitude and diva-like personality drove his draft stock WAY the heck down. D. I think that the media thinking they know better than the NFL professionals about the player potential of anyone is fraught with peril and listening to them is silly. E. I think the prank call sucked. Life is too short to go out of your way to intentionally cause pain to someone else. F. I think that he was probably drafted a bit low for the performance he showed in college but that it was modified by the attitude he also allegedly showed. G. I think that, if he can be healthy with how he channels all the negativity around his draft status, that he could play with a good chip on his shoulder and show all his doubters that they were wrong. However, the general curse that surrounds all thing CLE football will probably not allow that to happen. |

A) l I think that Sanders has the talent to be a good, or maybe even a very good starting QB in the NFL. B) l Whether or not that talent will bring such a career to fruition remains to be seen. C) l Easy to say, not necessarily easy to do ...... Sanders needs to completely shut out anything that his father has said about him, anything that the media has said about him, anything that the fans have said about him, and go about his business of making the team for the Cleveland Browns (and perhaps becoming their starting QB.) o |

I was going to say he may be able to use this to motivate himself and personally I hope he does, I hope he proves them all wrong and hopefully a few rare honest media people will do the "I told you so" for him! |
I actually was feeling a little sorry for him until I read about him blowing off all of his interview prep and then acting like a total entitled douche when the teams he interviewed w/ called him out on it. He's actually lucky to get drafted when he did.
I do agree the prank call was out of line. Total shit move by the guys who did it. |
