Got paid...Got Robbed!

Two games into the season the Colts have gotten robbed by the players that they have decided to pay.

Quenton Nelson: Maybe worst game ever

Jonathon Taylor: Dropped passes, pulled off the field in critical moments, has no intention of becoming a 3 down back

Kenny Moore: Missing tackles and a step late in coverage

Zaire Franklin: A complete joke. Producing at backup level production

Michael Pittman: Dropped passes, Short arming throws, not going up and getting contested catches

Feel free to add. But we don't have stars if they don't perform.

Thorgrim 09-15-2024 04:21 PM

I wish Bradley and Ballard were getting paid…

Unemployment checks.

"We Like Your Cash"

Sucka!

-You have to rewatch to assess OL, but I don't think they played bad last week and I didn't think they were bad today.

-JT looks good to me. That drop he had was thrown behind and above him when it should've been an easy lead. Otherwise, he was our entire offense.

-Moore had a bad jump on that TD pass for sure, but he doesn't stick out to me.

-Franklin 100% has been invisible. This dude has been a missile the past two years, tracking and sticking dudes. So far in '24, I've only noticed him when he flexes at the crowd after getting run on for 200+ in the first half. To be fair, part of that is the DL not keeping OL off the backers.

-Pittman I feel is going to have the inverse problem Pierce has had. Now, we can get Pierce the ball deep. But we aren't good at sustaining drives and allowing a possession/safety valve guy like Pittman excel. Hopefully that's just "yet."

Dam8610 09-15-2024 04:41 PM

Taylor was the only good player this game. He had something like 150 scrimmage yards.

Mr. Session 09-15-2024 04:43 PM

Lots of me guys on this squad. Lots of guys worried about their bag, their draft position, their podcasts.

The organization could get the same production for much less and also get guys with much better attitudes. They should consider it.

/QUOTE]

That wasn't his only drop, and if not for Dulin, may have lost a critical fumble late in the game.

My point being, that when we need big plays in the passing game JT is always on the sidelines. This game and week 18 last season, just to name two.

Obviously the team doesn't trust him in those situations and prefers scrubs off the street to him.

JT is getting paid like an elite RB, but I have never heard one indication from him that he wants to be a 3 down back or improve in the passing game.

pretty much right

although jt was the only part of the offense that was working.

absolutely

there is still a locker room issue. this isn't a team. this is 53 guys going out and making money

Hoopsdoc 09-15-2024 06:12 PM

This is just a bad team.

A bunch of guys got paid and lost their edge. So much for resigning your own. JFC.

AR was bad but he got no help at all. This isn’t on him.

The Packers just ran it down our throats and this team is to soft to do anything about it.

Gonna be a LONG year.

Yep. Guys got paid and got soft.

This team has no heart. No edge. No hunger.

omahacolt 09-15-2024 06:15 PM

thoughts on the debacle

1) perfect colts performance. could see this one coming from a mile away. the colts really are an embarrassment as a franchise. just constantly breaking records for being inept.

2) honeymoon is over steichen. lot of bad calls today. especially that 3rd and short option play. then trying a 50 yard field goal with a gimpy kicker. everyone knew that wasn't happening

3) I mean yeah gus Bradley is a problem but look at his players.

4) if speed and Franklin do another podcast this year, they should be cut. you don't get a microphone when you play like cfl players. dudes are borderline NFL players at this point. don't appear to care at all. although Franklin did seem to play a little harder in the 2nd half. these guys are clowns.

5) AR was bad. not much else to say. he will have these games.

6) Mitchell should be inactive. he is a drive killer. cant catch. gets open but doesn't look for the ball. doesn't try for the ball. put him on the bench. dude has talent but isn't ready

7) pierce is the bright spot. dude is all effort all the time.

8) look at pierce, Pittman. that is your new mentor.

9) God bless cross. dude gave it his all. going forward he needs to be starting ss and blackmon should be fs.

10) Ballard really shit the bed by sitting on his hands this off-season. we all knew it. huge fucking mistake. this defense lacks talent. big time. worst defense in the league. or 2nd worse. I see you carolina

11) we need a shake up on defense. people need benched. probably just speed but an example needs to be made.

12) this is a soft team. no leadership. Ballards vision for this team is not working. major changes need to happen. he needs to reevaluate his process

omahacolt 09-15-2024 06:17 PM

meant to put that in a separate thread but I drank a lot so fuck off. this will do

What's to do about this? These guys are young, and there isn't much senior leadership in the team as it is. Let alone guys who've won anything and can set an example.
Glad you brought this up.

Ballard doesn’t believe a vet presence adds anything. He believes coaches should set the culture in the locker room. It’s been one of my biggest complaints with him since his second off season.

No true, proven, starting QB with established success/leadership. So they have to pay young mercenaries. Even if they don't realize they are, their agents do. And they do need to make as much as possible while young. It's been an issue.

Spike 09-15-2024 08:42 PM

3 guys who should definitely not be paid but still will.

Ballard
Bradley
Gay

Our linebackers have really sucked.

Still support Steichen, but come on dude, you gotta be better than that.

AR doesn't have enough experience yet, neither college or pro. We'll see how he develops or doesn't. Still have high hopes for him.

Racehorse 09-15-2024 09:23 PM

Gus sucks. Gashed two weeks in a row. No scheme changes. Just do what we do, and get gashed all over again. And we are in bad need of a spark on offense. Hoping Downs is the spark when he returns.

Colts And Orioles 09-15-2024 09:47 PM

With the way that the Colts' defense played in the 1st half, and with the way that the Colts' offense played the entire game, it was a minor miracle that the Colts had the ball down by only 6 points with a chance to win it with a Hail Mary on the final play of the 4th quarter.

o

apballin 09-15-2024 09:48 PM

Paid a bunch of underserved losers with no real experience of any big games or true crunch time

But they’re all great guys off the field, they all document everything about their lives( podcasts or social media) and are all set for life.

Moore, Pittman, Grover, Blackmon, Franklin and Gay all pulled some oceans 11 level shit on Irsay

As unpopular as this sounds, I'm going to reserve final judgement on the 2024 Colts team, and refrain from throwing dirt on their proverbial grave just yet.

It looks bad right now with an 0-2 record, a defense that has been as lucky as it has been effective, a Rookie quarterback who is missing open receivers and throwing INT's, and a fan-base that is foaming at the mouth with anger ...... but there's still a lot of football (15 games) left to be played.

o

apballin 09-15-2024 10:05 PM

Not me… these guys were all paid like top players/ difference makers and the only guys that have done anything so far are

JT
Pierce
Dulin
Nick Cross, I thought he was gonna have 30 tackles today

Nelson and Buckner have been fine I got no beef with them

This season has a 2022 vibe to it, only this time its the defensive that has collapsed instead of the OLine.

albany ed 09-16-2024 07:24 AM

To me, following the Colts has always been about viewing pleasure. In losing to the Texans, a very disappointing defensive effort was eased by some exciting plays by AR. Especially the bomb to Pierce. Yesterday had no entertainment and worthy only of placing a bag over my head. It's going to be a long and dreary season.

HoosierinFL 09-16-2024 09:31 AM

Comments on Omaha's post:

2) honeymoon is over steichen. lot of bad calls today. especially that 3rd and short option play. then trying a 50 yard field goal with a gimpy kicker. everyone knew that wasn't happening

Even worse was that the stupid option play lost yards which made the FG even harder. Just get positive yards, end of story. And running a sneak with AR ought to be a pretty sure thing. More sure than an option toss.

On these 2 points, I keep wondering why do we constantly play nickel when the other team is running all over us? I'm also wondering if maybe Shaq Leonard has had enough time to heal and get his mind right cuz we need something like the old maniac on this defense. Cuz these guys look soft and confused.

5) AR was bad. not much else to say. he will have these games.

As expected but at the same time, I keep wondering- did these guys even practice? Because the offense, esp in the short to intermediate passing game, does not look practiced at all.

6) Mitchell should be inactive. he is a drive killer. cant catch. gets open but doesn't look for the ball. doesn't try for the ball. put him on the bench. dude has talent but isn't ready

He is definitely not ready - at least not for the number of snaps he's getting. Marv Jr has completely changed the look of Arizona's offense. Mitchell has done none of that. Give Dulin those snaps. I hope Downs can come back and show something at least.

9) God bless cross. dude gave it his all. going forward he needs to be starting ss and blackmon should be fs.

He's the #1 tackler because running backs are getting past the Dline and Lbs and he's the last hope, every time. At least he's making the tackles, but when you have a safety leading a defense in tackles, which are mostly against running backs, you have a serious problem.

12) this is a soft team. no leadership.

Exactly right.

And he is taking a beating doing it too. Twice yesterday had to come out due to injuries. He will be done for in another couple games at this rate.

Does Ballard like his guys to be wearing street clothes?

Mr. Session 09-16-2024 11:13 AM

If all we needed from Wentz was to hit the layups, why are they asking Richardson to throw the ball so damn much?

Maybe he’ll be able to sling it one day but right now I don’t see it. This team should be running focused with passing counters to help AR. What’s Stiechen’s thing? Pass to score, Run to win? Anyone in Houston or Lambeau get that memo?

Time to see what you’re really made of, Coach.

That's exactly where my mind went. Just inexplicably going from one of our strengths to... not just bad... to shit.

The goofy part is, if the run-D wasn't complete shit, but only bad... there's a decent shot we could be 2-0.

Even with the offense underwhelming, you figure we might be good for one more field goal (HOU) or 17 total points (GB) if the other team doesn't have the ball for 40+ minutes back-to-back weeks.

I’ve been one of his staunchest defenders but you are right. If this season goes down the drain like the 22 season did, Ballard has to go.

These are his hand picked guys. And they’ve been an absolute embarrassment the first two weeks of the season, at least on defense.

DragonTails 09-16-2024 08:58 PM

Indy is were GM's, coaches, and players come to die. You could be a HOF'r...but 3 yrs in Indy and you're unemployed or working at McD.

You just know Williams is going to have a day Sunday.

You would think we could get to 2-2. $10,000 on Chi ML.

CletusPyle 09-16-2024 09:49 PM

Is Cam Turner a good coach, cause I thought AR looked horrible Sunday?

You have a young man with tremendous potential and upside, you should invest in a really good QB coach to help him be the best player he can be....looks like he needs a lot of work!

Chromeburn 09-17-2024 08:08 PM

I believe both our guards are rated in the top five in the league by pff. I think fries is the top rated guard in the league.

Will agree on the skill position guys though. At least JT had a 100 yards. But his whiff pass blocking I think cost the colts a long Pittman TD.

What's crazy is that the OL in '22 was upended by the FO rolling the dice on some guys who weren't capable of playing their gifted position, but the DL this year should be better than last year. At least on paper........
