Week 7 vs the Browns - Stats and Stuff
Im still pissed about this game. I’ll start with the fumble that was negated by a penalty.

Josh Downs is progressing nicely.
Downs’ current pace as a Colts rookie vs other receivers: 80 receptions (1st) 973 yards (2nd) 5 TDs (T6th) https://x.com/baldynfl/status/171646...L8ardaxv32vrGQ |
The Colts are the only team in the NFL this year to score at least 20 points every game.

Colts have played against three of the top ten defenses in the league. The Browns were 1 and have dropped to 10 after playing the colts.

Although I didn’t know about the lack of discipline and accountability at the time. |
Outside of the blown 69-yarder by Ford... the rest of the game CLE had 71 plays for 247 yards at 3.4 yards-per-play. 81 rush yards at 2.5ypc.
The fact that they scored 39 points is bananas. This was even more of a '22 loss than last week. These were negative plays that were augmented into the worst possible case scenario over and over. |

The defense gave up only two drives that went longer than 40 yards. One was the early TD run at the beginning of the game. |
So already the Colts are 12th in offensive DVOA and 6th in ppg, tied with KC, and 1 ppg behind PHI, while facing a tough defensive schedule.
But Gardner Minshew is the NFL's lowest graded QB by PFF (with Ridder). And they are 20th in EPA/play and 28th in offensive success rate. So it means the offense is succeeding despite being dragged down by bad individual QB play. Wild. https://i.ibb.co/PGgvqNW/IMG-3559.jpg |
Listening to NFL radio and they had the lead spokesman for the nfl referring on going over controversial calls this weekend. He basically said the Colts got screwed. The first penalty should not have happened bc neither player impeded the other. Also the ball was already fumbled.
|
And the NFL admitted they fucked up.
|
Oh, good! So now we're 4-3...
Right? |

Like I've said many times...this team is fun to watch again!
Every game is different offensively, with how we attack teams. I feel like every team in the league knew what play was coming with Reich calling plays. Now we have formation variation, different looks for different situations. It has become totally modern, yet still not gimmicky. We are the only team in the NFL to have scored at least 20 pts. in every game. Last season it was a struggle to score 20 pts. in any game. A lot of the same players but a much different result. |
Pass protection on pure pass plays. No play action, screens, short throws under 2 seconds, and no defensive blitzes- just four rushers.
Also, Kelly is the highest graded center in the NFL. https://i.ibb.co/Qp3vpLG/IMG-3563.jpg |

Easy. They have an idiot as their head coach. He makes such brilliant decisions such as: Deciding to kick a FG when down by 8 with only 2:22 left in the game. The Raiders ended up losing the game by 5. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-hea...ith-2-22-to-go Quote:

That aside, this stat is only pass-blocking with several parameters. Quick look, they're dead last in rushing offense, 24th in rushing defense. Garoppolo has missed 2 games (big fucking surprise). Whatever it is, they've only hit 20+ points once (21), so something's not working. |

So another issue with the Browns game. On the blocked field goal, apparently the NT held down the snapper’s head so Garret could jump over him. Yet another missed call.

I have also heard the back judge who called the two penalties was the same ref who got a bad name in the Deflategate game. Dude hates the Colts |
From an ESPN article looking at FA acquisitions around the league and how they are doing so far.

Jaylon Jones has been playing well for a rookie CB:
