The official Brownstains drop a deuce on the Colts gameday thread.

21-6 Browns win.

That defense is legit. Minshew may be in a cast by the end of the game. That would mean *shudder* Sam Ehlinger. Yeesh.

Hoopsdoc 10-22-2023 09:19 AM

I’d like to see some life from JT and Leonard.

I want to see the run defense hold up without Grover.

The Browns have played 4 good games and 1 bad game so far this season. They beat the previously undefeated 49ers last week, and they beat the Titans and the Bengals by a combined score of 51-6. They had one really bad game against the Ravens, when Deshaun Watson was not playing at quarterback (Watson is questionable for the Colts game tomorrow.) If the Browns beat the Colts in a close game, that will not necessarily be a sign that the Colts cannot compete with good teams, and/or have no chance for a post-season berth ....... this is not the necessarily the perennial doormat Cleveland Browns that the Colts will be facing on Sunday.

All of that said, I still believe that the Colts have a good chance to win the game if the offensive line does (at least) a reasonably good job of protecting Gardner Minshew.

IndyNorm 10-22-2023 09:22 AM

Yeah, going to be a tough one. The Brown's D has had a couple of off weeks against Pitt and Balt (although I'm guessing Jackson had a lot to do w/ the 2nd game). Doubt that happens today: 17-6 Browns.

albany ed 10-22-2023 09:47 AM

I guarantee that this Colts team will do better against the Browns than the 1964 Colts did against the Browns in the NFL championship game.

The Browns have had 2 bad games as they somehow managed to lose to the Steelers in week 2, which was in between the weeks they blew out the Bungles and Tits.

HoosierinFL 10-22-2023 09:56 AM

Who vs who now?

apballin 10-22-2023 10:03 AM

The Browns have played 1 road game amazingly and already had a bye

This is an overrated defense that has benefited from situations like Burrow not being ready and playing every dam game at home

I don’t give a fuck if Watson plays or not, Chubb has been the guy you have to worry about without him they’re not the same and much easier to defend

This will be Taylor’s breakout game

Colts win 24-17

The Steelers just beat the Ravens in their most recent game.

With wins over the Ravens AND the Browns, their grade as a team for the 2023 season is still incomplete. They have been very erratic.

Maybe. They've also been steam rolled twice and barely squeaked by LAV.

Correct. That's why I said that they have been very erratic.

I'm not as interested in win/loss (obviously I want us to win and to never give up but we lack talent). This team is not going anywhere this year. It is about development. I'll be interested in watching to see if Leonard can start to force turnovers or if he will be cut at the end of the year, does the offensive line continue to improve especially our backups, do we actually have depth on the defensive line with Grover out and can the defensive backfield continue to grow. I am concerned about our receiver corp, no one is special in any way, but I have watched enough to believe the answer (a true number one receiver) isn't on this roster. I am thinking we may have found our slot and Pittman seems like a nice number two.

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 10-22-2023 11:35 AM

WR Alec Pierce had been listed as QUESTIONABLE in the injury report, but he is active and will play today.

Colts Inactives:

RT Braden Smith
TE Kylen Granson
G Ike Boettger
CB Ameer Speed
DE Isaiah Land

albany ed 10-22-2023 11:35 AM

Forget about MH Jr., He'll be gone before the Colts pick. You can get a great WR without being in the top 5. Here are some of the best WRs playing right now.

Justin Jefferson
Tyreek Hill, Dolphins
Ja'Marr Chase, Bengals
Cooper Kupp, Rams
Davante Adams, Raiders

Only Chase was drafted in the top 5.

A- on the title

well done hoops

Heart colts 23 browns 20
Head browns 28 colts 6

After nearly 50 years as a colts fan you'd think I'd be numb to disappointment but last Sunday was oddly disquieting. Maybe it's just because I hate those bastards in Jax but I hate games that make me think we will be discussing the merits of tanking by mid season.

Gardner Minshew will channel his inner 1968 Earl Morrall, and lead the Colts to victory this afternoon.

Considering how well the Browns' defense played against Brock Purdy and the previously-undefeated 49ers last week, I just couldn't resist predicting that Gardner Minshew and company will put up 30 points on them today.

The rain and wind were pretty significant last week in Cleveland, and I'm sure that had an affect on Mr. Irrelevant.

Hoopsdoc 10-22-2023 12:38 PM

Also, Bubba Ventrone is the special teams coach for Cleveland. He’s an outstanding ST coach and he’s intimately familiar with a lot of our players.

Keep an eye out for something crazy on special teams. A successful fake or a return score.

TheMugwump 10-22-2023 12:53 PM

Why the heck is Adam Archuleta always assigned Colts games?

Eh, there has been a lot of turnover on Special teams and the guys playing the iion's share of snaps this year are a lot different than last year.

But yeah, Ventrone might try to dial something up in his "revenge" game.

Puck 10-22-2023 12:57 PM

The Colts deserve to lose because of those stupid uniforms

Puck 10-22-2023 01:03 PM

Close the DAMN ROOF!!!!

nate505 10-22-2023 01:03 PM

These uniforms are hurting my eyes!

Yeah, I can't stand that hack.

nate505 10-22-2023 01:05 PM

Holy crap, how pathetic.

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 10-22-2023 01:05 PM

Well, that could have gone better.

Maybe the Colts should have received.

nate505 10-22-2023 01:06 PM

What the fuck happened there. Was a safety just that out of position?

Spike 10-22-2023 01:06 PM

Well, run defense is looking good.

Deon Jackson is probably licking his chops and hoping to enter the next Cleveland offensive series.

nate505 10-22-2023 01:08 PM

Between that, the stupid uniforms, and the damned sun fucking up the view of the field, this game is already pissing me with less than a minute of time gone by.

IndyNorm 10-22-2023 01:08 PM

So much for our Groverless run D

nate505 10-22-2023 01:09 PM

Great tackle break by Downs.

Man this guy was an absolute steal.

nate505 10-22-2023 01:11 PM

What a response!!!

CletusPyle 10-22-2023 01:11 PM

Was that TY?:D

CletusPyle 10-22-2023 01:12 PM

Uniforms looked better on that play!
