Jim Irsay @JimIrsay Waived DE Rashod Berry and CB Isaiah Rodgers Sr. |
Ballard Statement:
The Indianapolis Colts today waived defensive end Rashod Berry and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. "We have made the following roster moves as a consequence of the determination that these players violated the league's gambling policy," said Colts General Manager Chris Ballard. "The integrity of the game is of the utmost importance. As an organization we will continue to educate our players, coaches, and staff on the policies in place and the significant consequences that may occur with violations." |
Too bad, I felt like he was going to have a breakout year.

Good info ...... not necessarily the info that I wanted to hear, but good info nonetheless. o |
Wow, surprised a guy like Irsay wouldn't be all about 2nd chances....even third chances!

2. This is league sanctions. You want two guys on the roster who cant contribute? 3. This makes the colts look bad. Irsay has a big heart, but this hurts the bottom line. Thats why they fired the last head coach. Didnt win in a league where winning is the only thing |
Safe to presume our secondary is going to get torched this season? Smh

Rodgers probably would have secured one of the starting CB spots this season. Berry was an end of roster / practice squad type player. The Colts were already his fourth team over a 3 year career. |

For that reason, I believe that whichever rookie CB looked the best would have gotten the starting nod over Rodgers. |
I hope they pick Rodgers back up once he's reinstated. He probably would've been the starter had this not happened. Even if the Colts get nothing else out of him, he's been well worth the 6th round pick used on him.

I see this as almost purely a business decision. It is my guess that almost everyone who is competitive as NFL types bet on something. If not their friends do. There is no moral issue here. I believe that the powers that be in the NFL think that gambling is one of the things that could burn in a huge way this billion dollar business. No way they are going to chance finding out if they are right. Rogers may come back but I would think he would have do enough public service work to become the poster boy for gamblers anonymous in his year away to have a chance.

Rodgers found his next gig - that is, whenever his suspension is lifted.
Today the Eagles signed him and then immediately placed him on the Suspended List. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1696269260144754710 Quote:
