Hey republicans
you guys really took a hit in the elections this week. do you guys think there are lessons to be learned there and what direction do you think the party needs to turn to get back on track?
serious questions as this isn't meant to rub salt in or anything. just curious how you guys would like this to go moving forward |
I think those who hitched their wagon to Trump for endorsements got what I expected. I guarantee their were republicans who casted protest votes for Trump endorsed candidates.
Desantis distanced himself from Trump and won lopsidedly in Florida and drug some candidates along that were probably unelectable if running on their own. If I was the head of the RNC I would be doing some in-depth soul searching and trying to duplicate whatever Florida did before 2024. Biden had a historical low approval rating, yet people still showed up in large numbers to vote for democrats. That should be very alarming for the GOP. They won't heed the writing on the wall and will continue down the path of McConnel, McCarthy and the rest like them. Just my humble opinion. |

To add to my post. Six million more republicans voted than democrats, 6 mil, not 6, not 6K, but 6 million. For the republicans who do not think there is still Trump backlash that number should seal the deal. It won't though, they'll just scream cheating, and to be fair, Nevada, Arizona and a couple others are doing nothing to squash that narrative. When states with 3 times the population can tabulate everything and be in bed by 10:30 contribute to this rallying cry, legitimate or not. For fucks sake, votes were counted faster in 1875

the messaging from the republicans has been horrible imo. just basically running on FJB. i don't know what republicans stand for. but young people don't like the christian nationalist bs, the anti-abortion, anti trans, and anti- gay marriage is a losing stance. the repealing social security and cutting medicare is a huge no win. banning everything they don't like is a loss for young votes. they need to do something. i imagine it will only get worse with all the boomers dying out and gen z starting to vote more. republicans need policy and not just obstruction. |

I didn't say they were cheating, but when the same states do the same fucking shit every single time and all the other states are done in a few hours it lends credence to the questioning. Stop doing fucking dumb shit and the questioning will stop |

no gerrymandering in florida? you are joking right? look into it |
There are those of us who changed parties, because we couldnt stomach the bs from the trumpites

The states can change their election process to something more simplified like, ya know, the rest of the country. It will make all the bs go away. Other than homebound folks and military mail in balloting should be stopped. I have zero problem with ID to vote to verify you are who you are. You can't buy or do anything without proper ID so the whole it's racist and detrimental to poor people is astoundingly fucking stupid. Both parties cheat, that is a fact, but not to the tune they accuse each other of doing so. |

When the races are so close, then they can't call it early and you have to wait for most votes to be counted. You know, the same thing that's been going on for 50 years. Some states have different rules that also makes things take longer. There's is not any fraud going on-regardless of how many times Trump might say it. Before Trump ignited his base, elections were a non-issue. Now it's a fake issue but there are a lot of ignorant people. |

are you saying you want to federally change how states run their elections? aren't you for small government and states rights. why does it mattter how long it takes to count the votes? there is zero evidence of mass voter fraud. zero. its a boogeyman republicans use when they lose. there is no voting holiday. people don't have time to vote a lot of the time. especially in cities controlled by republicans. but still the main question is where do republicans go from here. cause i would love to see a party that i could possibly vote for that weren't fucking democrats. |

You could have the seniors apply for a US passport. Waive the fee for graduates. Granted there will be gaps, nothing is perfect. The majority of new voters are going to be in school around the time they are 18. I know there are states that have mobile systems to get older people who are house bound or in nursing homes on the voter roles and getting them mail-in ballots. Creating a pro active system of registration benefits everyone |

like i say all the time, peel away the stupid media driven shit, the majority of the people are really close to agreeing on a lot, if not all, of the problems. |

Libertarian party has some loonies in it, but if I had to pigeon hole myself into a party it would be them. They just suck at raising funds. Their platform is solid, their bylaws are decent, but that is where the fun in the sun ends. They are horrible at letting people know they are a viable option.
More than anything people have to break the two party paradigm of I would vote for so & so but it is taking votes from so & so. If everyone who actually said that would actually follow through with it we would break the D&R's stranglehold on politics. There are a couple serving in Indiana, but not enough to make a difference on a republican super majority across the board. Pitiful. I really thought Donald Rainwater had a shot at upending high tax Holcomb. However people could just not force themselves to push the button. I did with zero regrets. |
