Please Cut Specs

I mean, if you can't hit 50+ yard FGs, and you can't hit 42 yard game winners....what good are you.

EDIT: He can't even kick the ball in the fucking endzone.

omahacolt 09-11-2022 07:14 PM

if he isn't cut this week, then ballard needs fired

He is. He's not exactly my favorite kicker either, but I'd rather have him at this point.

he is 10 times better than some idiot that thinks he is cool because he has glasses and plays with legos.

fuck blankenship. worst kicker we have had in 20 years. get him off the team now.

IndyNorm 09-11-2022 07:30 PM

While I don't disagree with you, Frank needs to own this as well with his complete shit show of decision making. All we needed was a FG to win the game and we had the ball at 2nd and 2 on their 16. TAKE A FUCKING KNEE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD AND LET SPECS KICK A 33 YD CHIP SHOT FOR THE WIN. Granted specs still should have been able to hit a 42 yarder from the right has, but if Frank wouldn't have been such a dumb fuck he wouldn't have had to.

Yep, fuck specs and Reich, both of them suck. Didn't want Specs back this year either. Sorry ass that he is.

Hey, hey, hey, back off!

I am sure Frank had his trusty play sheet there in front of him that said the 2nd down run call in that position yields 3.987 yards at 87.3% of the time so it was the right call, I'm sure, just ask him, I am sure he can tell you, in fact I am sure he would LOVE to tell you how correct it was. Oh, and even if it wasn't the right call, well usually someone on the staff would tell him it wasn't and they didn't tell him, so it must have been the right call.

As far as the roll out RPO option with your 37 year old QB on 3rd down in that spot. I am sure his analysts told him that it converts for a 1st down at a 95.876% rate so we just happened to fall into that rare 4.134% this time, but ya know, on paper it was the right call and we just didn't execute, so that's not on him, that's on the guys on the field that didn't do their jobs, so don't you be looking at him as a scapegoat.

CanuckColt 09-11-2022 08:16 PM

Blanky-ship has the yips...if the kick is not critical, he makes it...if the kick has some pressure to it, he misses it REGARDLES OF THE DISTANCE.
He is going to cost us some games this year.

Seems to be an issue all over the league, except for about 5 kickers.

I don’t fault Frank for trying to improve his position for the kick. You could make a convincing argument that he did so BECAUSE he doesn’t have much faith in specs.

Bitch about the play call sure but I won’t fault the intent.

We need a kicker who can make a 42 yard field goal.

A 33 yarder straight down the middle is an uncontested layup for one of the 32 best FG kickers in the world. If Specs isn't good enough to do that then Frank needs to tell Ballard to bring in someone who can.

Edit: and Reich should have done it before the season started and it cost us a win.

Ballard should already know that. He watches the same games we do. Ballard is not without blame here.

Damn, as I type this Succop misses a 36 yard field goal. The Tits kicker missed a game winning field goal too. Like Racehorse mentioned, it seems to be a league wide problem outside of about 5 kickers.

Maybe, but Ballard does seem to get hard ons for some players: Banaogu, Campbell, and apparently Blankenship. Reich should check him on that.

If Ballard has a hard on for Blankenship, then he needs to go too. Reich may be afraid of Ballard though.

Ballard probably does considering he let Badgley walk and only brought in another PS guy to compete w/ Specs. Either way it's a big fucking issue when your coaching staff doesn't trust their FG kicker to hit a 33 yarder, which is what happened today

Asked repeatedly about the Colts' kicking situation, Frank Reich doesn't exactly give PK Rodrigo Blankenship a vote of confidence. He deferred most questions. It seems at the very least that the team will work out some kickers. A move could be coming. We'll see.

Reich: "Guy had a bad day, does he have the confidence to bounce back? Do we have the patience for him to bounce back? Those are all of the things you work through."

In the past, Reich **almost always** gives his players a vote of confidence.

Colts can't keep ignoring this issue.

More roster evaluation coming later this evening in meeting between Reich and GM Chris Ballard.

ChaosTheory 09-12-2022 04:54 PM

They're correct. He usually does give a vote of confidence. Reminds me of the tone regarding Carson Wentz before they shipped him. Hopefully they get a guy and pull the trigger.

Do you remember how many games we lost in 2019 almost directly from Adam Vinatieri falling off a cliff? Wasn't it like 3 or 4 games?

Hoopsdoc 09-12-2022 05:12 PM

Yeah, they’re at least going to look at kickers. For Reich, that was pretty serious criticism.

Pez 09-12-2022 05:50 PM

I'm fine with specs...

Pierce dropped a TD...

We did that weird ass direct snap to hines on 4th down...

We roughed the kicker when we had them kicking out of the back of their end-zone...

Guessing that if any of the above came out differently, we would not have to be talking about specs today.

he missed a game winning field goal and kicked two kick offs out of bounds. what the fuck are you talking about? seriously are you retarded? he is a kicker that is bad at his job. he has never been good. why on earth would you possibly be fine with this garbage kicker?

Oldcolt 09-12-2022 06:34 PM

He is gone. Ballard keep yapping about accountability. This is an easy call. The guy sucks under pressure of a real NFL game and cannot kick off worth a damn. Get someone with a big leg and pray.

Ok, cool, but seriously specs lost this game, and no one else was less to blame?

^^^^What he said.

It’s not like Specs is Vinatieri. He’s a marginal kicker who’s never had a big leg but was good at shorter distances. If he’s no longer reliable at short distances there’s no reason to keep him.

I guarantee you there are better kickers sitting on their couch.

Colts have worked out at least one kicker today, a league source says.

Indianapolis tried out former Jaguars K Matthew Wright, who will not be signing, per source.

There could obviously be more. Wright is the only one I've been able to confirm so far.

Sometimes when it goes for kickers, it goes.

Blankenship started his career 30 for 33 (91%).

Since then, he’s 16 for 23 (69%). And then the kickoff issues compounded.

With no NFL track record to fall back on, the Colts had to try someone else.

Someone without those scars.

Honestly, I didn't feel like the Colts could move forward with Rodrigo.

For some w/ the team, the two out of bounds kickoffs were more frustrating than the 42-yard miss that would've won it in overtime.

I can see it already. Late in the year, at a critical point in a game, Specs will kick a game winning FG for the opposing team.

Spike 09-13-2022 04:37 PM

Day late and a dollar short, well at least for the Texans game. I'm dumbfounded by the fact that Reich and Ballard had enough confidence in Specs to keep him. Did they not see the shit we saw, a choke artist supreme? I guess they did because Verity was brought in, but fuck, I would have brought in 20 kickers.

Just thankful the Colts got rid of his weak legged sorry ass. I can't think of any Colt I have disliked more than Spec's, well, at least in the past 3 or 4 years anyway.

smitty46953 09-13-2022 04:38 PM

Indianapolis Colts @Colts
We have also signed CB Darrell Baker Jr., S Henry Black, K Lucas Havrisik and K Chase McLaughlin to the practice squad and released G Arlington Hambright, S Will Redmond and CB Chris Wilcox from the practice squad.

According to Joel Erickson of RATS, he was asked about the kick after the game and said something along the lines of “well, a tie is better than a loss.”

Yeah, f**k that guy.

That is my fear. The kid has a future, but not here. Someone will sign the guy, and he will improve over time. You just can't wait for that to happen if you think you are close to competing now.
