Colts moving on from Eric Fisher
Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter Pro-Bowl left tackle Eric Fisher is not expected to resign with the Colts despite the fact that the two sides have spent recent weeks trying to strike a new deal, per sources. Fisher now is poised to hit free agency next week. Armstead a target? |

Armstead may be a “target”, but it is doubtful the team signs him. Ballard looks primarily for low risk deals that he can win. Armstead will draw enough interest that he won’t be interested in a short term or bargain price deal.

Makes me nervous that Ballard attempted to re-sign Fisher but was unable to and that he's going to go bargain shopping again at LT. Although it could be that Fisher is overestimating his value. Guess we'll find out.

My guess is that Fisher priced himself out of a contract.

No way is Nelson getting moved. Great players cost. We have what, 70 million in cap space and you think our issue is the extra 7 million (he already costs 13 million) that Nelson will get (I’m assuming he makes around 20 million a year)? I disagree I think it is crazy to trade away a guy who may turn out to be one of the greatest guards if not the greatest guard who ever played the game.
If you moved him to get a sure fire QB you might have an argument however. Don’t see that happening |

It is a risk, his back. The Colts will have to evaluate that with their medical team.
|
Is Big Q already in consideration for the Hall of Fame if his career was to end now? I am guessing not, as he just hasn't played for long enough, but i would suggest that the quality of his play would put him easily into the frame of contention.

The Colts aren't going to give "a guard" left-tackle money. Nelson is arguably the best O-lineman in the league. They're going to give arguably the best O-lineman in the league left-tackle money. 3x First-Team All-Pro (would be 4x if he didn't miss four games).
I've always valued interior OL more than most probably do... but the McGlynn-Satele-Thornton years cemented that stance. Remember how bad people wanted Andrew Norwell? Even if you don't believe in the merits... think pragmatically. Ballard picked the guy with the #6 overall. Of course he's going to pay him. |

Stop worrying about the money, it doesnt matter. Did the money keep the Colts from dumping Wentz and coming out ahead? Let Irsay worry about the money. |

And what do you mean did the money keep them from dumping Wentz? |

The money involved in salaries is all monopoly money. It didn’t prevent us from dumping Wentz to the Washington whatever you’re calling him this week. There’s always a way to maneuver money find money create some ridiculous exception to pay the people you wanna pay. That’s why I don’t worry about it. Also it’s not my money so I probably deep down inside I don’t freaking care |

As far as money... Yeah it's Monopoly money to an extent for a multi-billionaire like Irsay. But for Ballard and the team, it's the confines of the NFL. I don't pay attention to the cap because I have some principled position on what I think a player's worth is. And I'm also not concerned about being fair to the owner's wallet. Hypothetically if a player like Nelson were a free agent right now, teams like the Colts could go after him. Teams like the Saints can't. It may be Monopoly money... but they don't have any of it. |
