Official Colts throttle the Jests and I hate late games thread

Colts win big. Jests new QB goes back to obscurity.

Puck 11-04-2021 07:29 AM

I have a feeling Sam Ehlinger will get some playing time this game. Especially if Wentz continues to audible out of running plays .

Reports are he checked out of 6 JT runs the last game

CletusPyle 11-04-2021 08:51 AM

9 game winning streak starts tonight....Colts win big!

If that's true...

This is practically the season for this NYer. Some of my closest friends and family are Jets fans and losing this game is not an option. If the Colts win this game, I have some serious ass busting I can do. Lose it, and I'll be pissed off for a long, long time.

I don't wanna just win, I want a thorough ass kickin.

Where can I read those reports and what were the results of the checkouts?

And while I agree that Reich has to take the blame for not telling Wentz to just run the damn play. The fault of the lack of running the ball is Wentz trying to be a hero.

Thanks for the info Puck. If Wentz checked out because he wants to be a hero, then Reich needs to get all over his ass. If he checked out because the D was keyed up to stop the run, then OK. That's why it would be interesting to know what happened on the check outs. Were they successful? Were they failures? Half and half? Who knows?

Those were the RPO’s Reich alluded to after the game. It’s not a situation where Wentz audibled from a run to a pass, they were read and react plays that just happened to favor throwing the ball.

I’ve said I don’t think Wentz is a winner, so I’m not exactly one to defend him. However, without context of what plays he checked out of and the defensive alignment I don’t think we can say it was him playing hero ball. Identifying the defense and getting into a favorable play is good QB play. But we don’t know which it was without more information.

To be honest, last week soured me considerably on Wentz. Those ints were not winning plays and I wonder if the folks in Philly weren’t right about him.

Maybe he just doesn’t have what it takes.

Reich seems to be okay with it (obviously we have no concept of the truth behind the curtain), and if so, more confirmation that the dude is an idiot.

I’m going to wait till the end of the season. He’s had some good games and all QBs make mistakes. Really, his play should already have lead to more wins, but a multitude of bad luck and mistakes in other areas have brought us to where we are.

This is how I feel....besides, just drafting the highest prospect QB available in the draft is no guarantee he is not going to be a bust!

Someone said that int to end the game was the worst read they’ve ever seen an NFL quarterback make and I don’t disagree. That was horrific.

Still, you’re probably right. He just hasn’t shown me he can be more than just a talented guy who will always be not quite good enough.

If the Colts win tonight, it will have been 4 out of their last 6 ...... it started with the win over the Dolphins on October 3rd.

I'm really hoping that this team winds up going on a run similar to the 2008 team, who started out at 3-4 with a sore-kneed Peyton Manning, then wound up finishing at 12-4 after Manning's knee completely healed.

Yeah, that’s beating the 4 bad teams out of the last 6 they’ve played. They still haven’t beaten a team with a winning record.

Brylok 11-04-2021 01:37 PM

Can you imagine the reaction if the Colts lose this game? Hard Knocks might win an Emmy award.

ukcolt 11-04-2021 01:59 PM

6 instances?? That means we intended to throw the ball on 45 occasions!!! We were winning this game handily, should automatically be running the ball after being up 14 points. I don't care if there are 9 men in the box, until they prove they can stop your running game you keep giving it to Taylor, Mack etc. Tennessee never stopped our run game, the Colts did.

I would love to see the Colts run the ball 35 times and only throw the ball 25. I bet we win most games if we did that! That is how our offense is setup, we have a great run blocking offensive line, we are weak at receiver at the moment, why would you want to throw the ball more than you run it?

Correct ...... and they will have numerous chances before the end of this season to show that they are more like the team that beat the Packers last year than the team that can't seem to do more than give good teams a run for their money this year.

TheMugwump 11-04-2021 03:08 PM

I would love it if for once in the last several years, they would NOT play to the level of their opponent. It seems like nearly every game (with the exception that proves the rule being the Texans game this year), against good teams and against bad teams, they make it seem like they are on equal footing.

For once, or I suppose for the second time in a long time, stomp the hell out of the opponent from the opening kick off. What's that Conan the Barbarian quote? "...crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women." This. Do this tonight.

Last year, the Colts beat the Jets by a score of 36-7.

http://www.jt-sw.com/football/boxes/...020-03-nyj-ind

We're all obviously hoping for a similar result, although I do believe that this year's Jets team is better than last year's team ...... they own 2 major upset wins over the Bengals and the Titans.

o

Oldcolt 11-04-2021 04:53 PM

Jets are a bad team. Colts usually beat bad teams. Mediocre teams are often like that.

I won’t disagree that it was bad, it was, but I’ve seen Peyton and Luck make bad reads too. My biggest worry is that he presses too much, gets tunnel vision in high pressure situations and when forced makes errors.

However with everyone concentrating on his errors bc of last season, I feel we are waiting for them to happen then over analyze. He think he is still over 100 QBR. I want to see the whole picture. I don’t need him to be a franchise QB, just a good one. Throwing 51 times is not his game and shouldn’t be ours.

Puck 11-04-2021 06:48 PM

I want to get this in before all the the freak the fuck out posts start happening.

The Jets passing D is HORRIBLE. They are much better at run D. Jets will do theirbest to take JT out of the equation. If/when you see 2 deep safeties. It will be a run, If it is ONE safety. We will pass the ball.

I wouldn't expect less passing unless we get a lead. THEN if Wentz starts changing out of RUN I would hope we se SE come in. Actually I kinda hope we DO see Sam get in the game.

Thorgrim 11-04-2021 06:56 PM

Indy doesn’t need to pass 30 times to win this game. New York has proved to be unable to stop the run and Taylor, if showcased properly, can easily break 100 yds. Wentz needs to calm his ass down and just manage the game while occasionally testing the jets on play action with intermediate routes and a couple deep balls. If Eberflush stops with the soft zone and show some aggression I think White is good for a couple ints and hopefully a lost fumble. I can’t imagine we lose the turnover battle if Wentz doesn’t feel the need to play hero ball. If Reich calls just a decent game and has them play disciplined I see an easy 27-13 victory.

Puck 11-04-2021 07:07 PM

RUN D rankings

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/sta...yards-per-game

PASS D rankings

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/sta...yards-per-game

Jets SUCK at pass D They are close to us at RUN D

IF they stack the box. Wentz will throw for 350+

Puck 11-04-2021 07:11 PM

If the Jets play 2 deep JT will have 100 before 3rd quarter and we will see Mack get 60+

Puck 11-04-2021 07:38 PM

I believe we will see more Mack now since they didn't get a trade. They can run him to death and save JT.

I have a feeling Frank will make sure to NOT take the foot off the pedal tonight. He really needs to save face tonight from the previous debacles
