Colts + Marlon Mack are mutually seeking a trade, nothing imminent at the moment

I guess the "healthy scratch" last week spurred some discussions between the Colts and Mack.

The Colts and RB Marlon Mack have agreed to mutually seek a trade, per sources. Mack is fully healthy after last year’s Achilles tear. But Jonathan Taylor as the bell cow and Nyheim Hines recently extended, Mack is hoping for opportunities elsewhere.

Nothing is imminent on a Marlon Mack trade. He’s still with the team. But with injuries around the league, there figures to be a market.

I am guessing this was discussed/known well before last games healthy scratch. I would guess ballard long ago told mack "thanks for your service, come to camp, get in shape, we will show you off a bit then look for a trade as you are at best #3 on our depth chart." Thats probably best mack could get given the circumstances. I like mack and hope he ends up somewhere he can get some meaningful carries (not against us).

Has Mack just been unlucky or is he made of glass? If he can stay healthy he would be a nice addition to nearly any team in the league...but if he can't stay on the field, he doesn't have much value. I believe he gets one more chance with a successful team and I predict he has a lot of success!

sounds like a QB I have heard of........

omahacolt 09-28-2021 03:01 PM

all the best to Mack

doubt we get much for him

Brylok 09-28-2021 03:26 PM

One of the areas of the team where we have good depth so, yeah, let's mess that up too. Good luck to Marlon though. Hard Knocks is gonna be interesting.

Butter 09-28-2021 03:41 PM

5 seconds after we trade him Taylor's leg falls off.

Lawrence Owen 09-28-2021 03:44 PM

Yeah, When I saw this, I immediately posted my thoughts about it on youtube.

Maybe Indy can get a decent O-line backup or something from him.

I love Marlon! I so wanted him to have an impact on our team this year.
Maybe this is how...

Best of luck MM!

Yep, not in favor of trading Mack unless we get blown away on an offer somehow. Otherwise just keep him.

we have wilkins

YDFL Commish 09-28-2021 07:11 PM

Look, he was 4th round pick, that imo out performed that selection. So he should be at least worth a 4th round pick.

Luck4Reich 09-28-2021 07:13 PM

I mean we give our starter 10 carries:cool:

With his injury history don't expect more than a bucket of balls and a fungo bat.

He's gonna be gone at the end of the season anyways and we don't know what's going on between him and the Colts until Hard Knocks comes out. He probably wants to leave rather than sit out. I just hope we get something in return and don't just cut or release him.

Comp pick?

albany ed 09-29-2021 09:36 AM

I DO NOT want Foles........ But if you think he isn't better than Huntley, Eason or Ehlinger you are on serious drugs or something.

If we don't make a trade, and later release him, Do we forfeit the possibility of a comp pick?

I didnt think trades factored into comp pics. I always thought it was based on FA losses/signings and possibly releases. But I admit I dont really know and am too lazy to look it up.

Yes, players that are released by their team do not factor into the comp pick formula.

That is what I thought. Thanks.

The Colts made Marlon available for Q&A's during this week's player press conferences - link to video below.

Marlon stated that the Colts gave him the heads up prior to last Sunday that he may be a healthy scratch at some point this season.

He stated that the conversation with the team about a trade came after Sunday's game.

Marlon had a fair amount of interest from other teams in free agency - although after the injury no one was automatically pencilling him in as a RB1. I think he came back to the Colts for the familiarity - familiarity with the playbook, familiarity with the doctors / trainers, etc. I think he knew that his reps would be limited this season but was hoping to flash enough from time to time behind a dominant offensive line so that he could earn his next contract.

I heard that Taylor is now a "game time decision" with a knee injury. I'd say unbelievable, but it's the Colts.

At least four teams may be interested in Mack:

I'm told the Chiefs, Panthers, 49ers & Saints are among teams that made preliminary inquiries for Colts RB Marlon Mack over the last few weeks.

Any team potentially dealing for Mack would acquire his 2021 base salary of $1M fully guaranteed (prorated), per league source.

Colts are re working TY's contract assuming to open up some cap space. I have a feeling that with Blackmon now down we could see a trade for defensive help coming soon
