Wentz out indefinitely

Per Schefter.. really hope it's not serious!!

HoosierinFL 07-30-2021 01:53 PM

I can only think of 3 foot injuries:
Turf toe: a few weeks of rest
Broken bone: 6 weeks
Lisfranc: 6 months

Hoopsdoc 07-30-2021 01:58 PM

That’s really not good. Not good at all.

nate505 07-30-2021 01:58 PM

Well fuck...guess what we'll see what we have in Eason.

Hoopsdoc 07-30-2021 02:13 PM

Not good. Now I’m waiting for the “torn ligament, out for the year” news.

Brylok 07-30-2021 02:31 PM

It's the Curse of the Sheriff.
Roll with Eason and the Texas kid if it comes to that. Don't bring some scrub journeyman QB in.
Eagles might not get those high draft picks after all.
Between this and COVID-19, it might be interesting. Smh

rcubed 07-30-2021 02:57 PM

shit.

Bruised bone? A few days rest and back at it.

It says he felt a “twinge”. That says ligament more than bone.

Of course, it’s all just speculation right now.

Update on Colts QB Carson Wentz: He will see noted foot specialist Robert Anderson in the near future, sources tell me and Rapoport. A firmer timeline for his return will be established at that point. For now, the team is taking solace in Week 1 still being 6 weeks away.

On Wentz seeing Dr. Robert Anderson ... Just about every NFL player with a foot issue ends up seeing Anderson, the league’s foremost expert on the foot. There’s essentially no higher authority.

All options are on the table, including a minor surgical procedure. The hope is to avoid it, but it’s possible. Either way, if Carson Wentz misses games it’s not likely to be many.

Hoopsdoc 07-30-2021 03:57 PM

PUP list is my guess. Out the first 6 weeks.

Silver says it could be both.

I'm told the Wentz foot injury involves a bone and a ligament... Colts had been hoping for better news, are bracing for possible surgery

This is a disaster for the Colts.

They can’t afford for Wentz to miss training camp and preseason with the brutal first part of the schedule and now it’s looking like he’s missing AT LEAST that. Probably more.

This might be the death blow to the season already, 3 days into camp.

Brylok 07-30-2021 04:50 PM

Start Eason. I don't want any Mitch Trubisky in there. Season ticket refund hotline number is (?)

Give Eason a shot, but call up Rivers to gauge his interest. Just in case.

omahacolt 07-30-2021 06:05 PM

does it really matter?

i don't like dudes getting injured but his history said that this was a probability.

and i don't think the colts are a good enough team either way to win a super bowl.

at least brissett is gone

Bullshit. They won 11 games with the corpse of Philip Rivers.

With good qb play, this is absolutely a good enough roster to win a super bowl.

questionable pass rush, passing game and qb.

not really a recipe for a super bowl run. although i figure they have a pretty good year

Colts And Orioles 07-30-2021 08:06 PM

In his final season in the NFL, Payton Manning was plagued by plantar fasciitis. I suppose that we'll find out soon enough exactly what it is with Wentz, and the subsequent treatment for it.

o

HoosierinFL 07-30-2021 08:12 PM

I kinda wanted Eason more than Wentz anyway, so let’s see what he’s got.

Even Ehlinger feels more promising

Oldcolt 07-30-2021 10:21 PM

I totally agree with Omaha on this. I would add that being 60% vaccinated as a team will most likely cost us a game or two. Keep that first Ballard. Let’s find out about Eason!

rcubed 07-30-2021 10:36 PM

Agree. Just roll with eason and see what happens.

No way he'd come back. It would be somebody like Trubisky, Bortles, Fitzpatrick, etc. I'm hoping Wentz isn't as bad off as we think.

For now anyway...

apballin 07-31-2021 12:20 AM

Yep roll with Eason, this defense, running game, and offensive line can win the division and let’s see what happens

Voosh 07-31-2021 11:40 AM

I'm not in panic mode yet but this sucks. I've been sort of meh on this Wentz signing from the beginning. Hopefully he isn't out for too long. Maybe Eason or Ehlinger will ball out.

Thorgrim 07-31-2021 12:50 PM

On the bright side we likely won’t have to give up our first round pick.

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 07-31-2021 01:02 PM

In the meantime, the Colts added another QB to the room - QB Brett Hundley

Brett Hundley: 18 games with Green Bay and Arizona.
3-6 as a starter. 119-of-337, 1,902 yards, 9 TDs, 13 INTs.
5th round pick of GB in 2015.

JAFF 07-31-2021 02:32 PM

Wow, that didnt take long

YDFL Commish 07-31-2021 05:34 PM

Hundley is just another camp arm.

I'm in the camp of rolling with Eason as well. I mean, who are we going bring in that be that much better anyway. Let's see what the kid can do.

Give Eason a shot but I’m really not optimistic. From the camp reports, sounds like he’s check down Charlie.

Sounds like a young guy who hasnt played much ball due to the pandemic. Has talent, but they were running the new offense for the first time

Chromeburn 07-31-2021 10:09 PM

Has Wentz been entered into the ring of honor yet?

apballin 07-31-2021 11:10 PM

Yeah the dude just hasn’t got to play especially with the 1’s, he’ll gain confidence and he’s got a cannon I trust Reich to put him in favorable positions and simplify his reads

And I will add on here, the D was getting constant pressure with C and LT both manned by non starters. Pinter looked ok at C bot the free agent from SD was getting whupped by Payne

apballin 08-01-2021 10:48 AM

Wentz getting hurt without contact and without pads doesn’t make me feel confident in him anyway so I’d say the more reps for Eason at this point the better

albany ed 08-01-2021 12:39 PM

It could have been worse. Wentz could just suck and still if he played 70% of the season we'd be giving the Eagles our #1 draft choice. Best case, he misses 6 weeks, comes back and kicks ass but only takes 60% of the season.

BCN#1 08-01-2021 12:54 PM

Count me in the Eason camp at this point. He will need to learn the hard way and play some games to get that live game experience he is still lacking. Can only make him more valauable for being "the man" in the future or increase his trade bait value at some future point.

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 08-01-2021 03:33 PM

I guess the good news is that the test results did not indicate that surgery was absolutely necessary. However, if the rest + recovery doesn't work and surgery is required later, it just pushes back the timeline of when Wentz can play this season.

Colts QB Carson Wentz plans to try to rest and rehab his foot injury over the next few days, source said, rather than have immediate surgery. If all goes well, Week 1 is in play. If it doesn’t improve, the answer may be surgery

From what I've gathered on the Carson Wentz front, no final decision's been made. Team still working through the diagnosis and steps ahead.

I expect we'll know more tomorrow, when Frank Reich returns to practice.
