Mostly from the past. Last year he played well

That doesn't bother me too much. I liked what Inman gave us last season, but it's not like we didn't find replacements. So, the Cheats get one of our leftovers. Who cares?

Oldcolt 05-11-2019 12:39 PM

It’s a really good sign that people we no longer want are finding homes in NFL

Yeah, I believe I remember a time under Grigson nobody wanted our guys when we finally let them go.

Pez 05-11-2019 06:01 PM

Or only the Raiders wanted them...

I’m not or sure what they are waiting for. They get 13 million just from releasing him and I don’t think they can sign their picks as it is right now.

I guess still holding out hope for a trade?

Makes sense. Trying to get something for nothing.

Well they need about five million to sign Devin White. Wonder how long they will drag it out. No one will want to trade for him at that price tag.

They would take a 7th round draft pick. Any thing other than a 0

Interestingly enough, that is how we got Raheem Brock. He was a 7th rd pick of The Iggles and they couldn't afford to sign him. So Polian swooped in and picked him up.

But it's not a matter of the pick, it's a matter of the new team not wanting to take on his horrible contract. They can just wait for him to be released and then sign him to a more reasonable deal. If his current contract was reasonable, the bucs would get some trade offers.

Agree. But lets say the Rams get nervous after losing a bunch of D linemen. They may jump if someone gets hurt between now and the start of camp. Bucs aren't losing by waiting.

They are close to not being able to sign the rest of their draft class. They have $1 million in cap space and haven't signed their first round pick yet and a couple others. They may need that cap relief from McCoy's contract.

Oldcolt 05-14-2019 11:24 AM

No way to they give away reps to a 9 year veteran who is only going to get worse.

They are doing just that with Houston. He isn't getting any better at his age

So you only play him in passing downs. You limit his reps, and he's got a lot of knowledge about how to play. How to play with leverage, how to defeat a block.

Ballard knows him, and I'm guessing, trusts him to be a pro.

Yep, and they can do the same type of thing with someone like McCoy. With the Houston signing, Ballard is obviously not shying away from signing some players on the downside of their career. If the guy can help, then bring him in if/when he's released. He doesn't have to be a every down player.

YDFL Commish 05-14-2019 06:24 PM

Are you guys arguing about signing or trading for McCoy. Because there is no way in hell I would trade for him.

Didn't we once bring in an even younger Tommie Harris and he failed to make the team?

I'm not comparing the players, because I believe McCoy has been the better player on a worse team.

Exactly why I don't think Ballard is going to do it with McCoy. Ballard has made it clear he wants to grow his own. I could definitely be wrong but I don't see the signing of Houston as indicative of a change in philosophy. I see it as the exception. A high character guy Ballard knows well who plays a position of huge need. Times gonna tell.

The Colts signed free agent edge rusher Dadi Nicolas. He was originally selected by Kansas City in the 2016 NFL draft and has since bounced around the league a little bit.

In a corresponding move, the Colts waived cornerback Jamal Peters with an injury settlement

Just signing him if/when the Bucs release him.

I don't have a problem working him out and signing him as a free agent. 2 year deal 1 year guaranteed @ $7-9 million.

As a reminder, this is the guy that a year ago was placed in an involuntary psych hold for throwing barbells in a Miami gym and making incoherent claims about being a secret agent of the government.......nice move Raiders.

On a more serious note, shame on Rodger for allowing a team to sign a guy that clearly is damaged and doesn't need more hits to the head. SMH
