Abram is another good option. This defense could use a bullet like him.

Didn’t he run a 4.77 40 at his pro day?

Supposedly he has a groin injury? I'd look at tape more than trusting that time. Darius Leonard ran a 4.7 40 at the combine with some sort of leg injury, but he plays a lot faster than you'd expect from a 4.7 40 LB.

That’s what I saw scouts saying yesterday on Twitter regarding Rapp’s time. If anything, it could help push him down to 34 for the Colts. I’m still hoping for something like the below after Rd 2.

Wilkins/Simmons
Rapp/Abram/Brown
Winovich

We re-signed Webb.

Ballard continues to do what he said he would do. He seems to prioritize signing Colt free agents. My guess is he is heavy in on this trying to build continuity and get the locker room he wants in the process. Hope he is right.

He took a look at the shit Grigs and Pagshit has in that locker room and said we need to start from scratch.

Great GM

Great GM

Ballard understands talent wins. He apparently doesn't care where it comes from, as long as they can execute their job. He's had two good drafts, lets see what he can do with all his picks at the back of each round.

If we end up drafting a T I could see that happening.

I get what you are saying. It would be great if a younger guy could play better than the vet.

From where I sit, the kids will have a shot to unseat the guy in front of him

So you DO want an OT taken with an early pick

It isn’t an either or. Webb has never been that good and is old. We have depth issues if he is still on the team.

I don’t mind drafting on OT. Just hope it is 4th round or after.

Oldcolt 04-07-2019 10:54 AM

This draft doesn't appear strong in offensive lineman. May be one reason we resigned Webb. I agree with Omaha with the caveat that if we think there is value I really don't care where we draft a guy.

Let me first say that 1) I don't follow college football and 2) I have not made a deep dive review of the prospects for this year but, I have seen several articles which state that this draft has plenty of DL and OL prospects.

For example, the article that Puck recently posted here:

http://coltfreaks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70482

stated that the best position groups in this draft were 1) Interior DL 2) Edge 3) Interior OL 4) Offensive Tackle 5) Tight End

WR is pretty deep. Not top end talent, but a ton of 2nd-3rd round guys.

So a tall blonde doesnt count? FYI, thats what I did 35 years ago. Best pick I ever made.

I want a guy whos a difference maker on the D. I dont know who will be available that late in the draft. Ballard found Leonard in the secound, so Im optimistic.

Taking an O tackle in the first or secound round is stupid. If Costanzo gets hurt next year, a rookie isnt going to solve that problem.

You want the Colts to contend? They need a pass rush. Find the second coming of Mathis, a clone of Freeny who was in the wrong D in college. If you cant get to the other QB and knock him on his ass, it doesnt matter about a rookie left tackle.

And no I dont know who that would be. Ive got a real job and I dint have time to pretend to scout college football.

I know there are going to be a lot of cuts after the draft and as players cut down their rosters but as of now I was looking through the top remaining FA

Players I would still like to see at least brought in for an interview

Suh. On a 2 yr contract with the second yr being an option. We desperately need a play maker at NT probably more than any position on the Dline .... Gotta be able to stop the run in the AFC South if your gonna win it.

Ajayi. If healthy he is a better option that Mack. And if Mack goes down again we dont lose a step. Ajayi would also be a threat in the passing game which Mack is not. Use Ajayi and Hines as a slot guy and that could cause some issues for defenses.

Mayowa. Need more pass rush

Shane Ray.... maybe. Not sold on him but maybe with a change of scenery he can make something of himself...

I would be fine with Suh.

Not into ajayi but wouldn’t really care.

The @Colts today announced that exclusive rights free agent WR Marcus Johnson and restricted free agents S Matthias Farley and WR Chester Rogers have signed their tenders.

Don't really care about Rogers or Johnson, but it's good to have Farley back. Much needed help at safety.

Yes, glad to have Farley back and Rogers if even for depth has his moments

Rogers can catch a punt, and get some yards. For that alone is a good thing.

Discflinger 04-15-2019 09:36 PM

Just saw that Ballard signed Webb for a hair over a million.

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 05-01-2019 03:50 PM

LB Najee Goode stays within the same division and signs with Jax. With the number of draft picks / rookies this year at the LB spot, it was going to be difficult to crack the Colts roster. "Goode" luck to Najee (except when playing the Colts).

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 05-06-2019 02:29 PM

Raiders will do Raiders-like things:

The Raiders have brought in free agent guard Richie Incognito to work out today. Just because - they are the Raiders.

At this point, I would be really disappointed if Hard Knocks chooses a different team for this season. The players, the coach, the first year GM - that is must see TV!!!

He was, I believe, something of a locker room leader, so for that, I thank him.

It was very clear at various points in the season, however, that he could be upgraded upon. He played in the precise spot where we would routinely get burned (intermediate middle of the field). Let's hope Banogu/Okereke can bring more speed.

Starting this afternoon, might see a little more movement with the remaining free agents

I would be extremely surprised if it happened. I would be happy with a one year deal. I feel like Ballard needs to add more to DLine regardless of how much he likes what we have. If he leave 25-45 mil on the table after everyone is signed I will be pissed, especially if we come up short in our playoff run and we had the money to address a hole of big need.

I'm not as smart a football guy here as most of you but if you have the money to put us over the top dont hold onto it .

Just my opinion and it may mean nothing.

I think the Bucs release Gerald McCoy and we go after him instead. Suh is a better player, but with a lot more baggage.

Oldcolt 05-07-2019 03:57 PM

I think a long shot that Ballard might look at is Eric Berry. He is a great locker room guy and would bring a ton of experience to the secondary. Ballard likes these young safeties however and wants them to play. For me, I think we could use some experience back there. It helps when people get hurt and you face adversary. If I had to guess though, we don't sign any of these guys.

With how the draft unfolded, it wouldn't surprise me if they brought in one more interior DL piece. Would have been silly to address it prior to the draft and then waste that money if you filled the need with a cheap rookie.
