Colts Reportedly Sign Steelers Free Agent Safety Sean Davis to a One-Year Deal.
|
This is the first year I remember Ballard signing so many people to one year contracts. He is valuing experience in our backups. I wonder why this year is different than the others. Is it that there are just more players willing to take what he feels are appropriate contracts or this him thinking that the locker room is now ok and he can bring in a bunch of outside players? I find it interesting and am looking forward to seeing how this works out.

The following video is pretty good. Big Dick Ballard's Master Plan. For those of you offended by curse words, don't watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I8OrVVybtI |

JAFF. I agree, however that has always been true and yet this has not been Ballards way until this year. It may just be the number and quality of players available this year makes this the best policy for both parties.

The one year deals are probably just as much on the part of the player/agent, if not more. The cap is going to grow by a lot next year (instead of shrink) and most of these guys would like to grab larger contracts next season. It’s a roll of the dice, but most are willing to take that chance.

Ballard reportedly made a similar offer to Autry that Denico eventually agreed to with Tennessee. The major difference - Ballard had no guaranteed money in 2022 whereas Tennessee guaranteed a portion of the money in the contract's second year. |

I like that Ballard does stuff that we can make sense of. Signing guys to one year contracts is new for him yet so many freaks have shown that there are good reasons why he did this this year. It is really nice not to have a moron running the team.

Clowney signed with the Browns. Up to 10 million on a 1 year deal.
|
Glad that we stayed away at that price. If he is fully healthy, then maybe he is worth the money, but he has struggled to stay healthy for his entire career. He isn't an elite pass rusher.
I would have liked the player on the roster if at $5 to 6m, with the ability to get up to $10m if he were to get double digit sacks and a pro bowl etc. |

Arden Key and Maurice Hurst were just released by the Raiders. We should take a look at Hurst. I was screaming at the TV to draft Hurst when he fell. I think he would fit well as an undersized interior pass rusher.

Haven’t seen anything official yet but it looks like we are resigning TJ Carrie

Apparently Ballard thinks it is time for some continuity

ORLANDO BROWN to KC
Chiefs acquired OT Orlando Brown, the No. 58 pick in the 2021 draft, and a 2022 sixth-round selection from the Ravens in exchange for the No. 31 overall pick, a 2021 third- and fourth-round pick, and a fifth-round selection in the 2022 draft. https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/footb...as-city-chiefs |
Brown is on his last year of rookie contract and will need to be extended. No thanks. I want a rookie contract at LT for the next few years.

Both statements are factually true. I think how you perceive the move says a lot about your preferred team building method. Having advocated previously for more aggressive moves meant to peak in shorter windows, I tend to see it like my statement more. |

Might see a few free agent signings across the league after they no longer apply to the comp pick formula.
It was mentioned a few times that the Ravens were holding off on signing anyone else until the deadline passed. https://twitter.com/FieldYates/statu...08836792274944 Quote:
