Ballard dropping from #3 to #6 tells me he likes Chubb and hopes he might still be there at #6 BUT can also be happy with several other guys if Chubb goes earlier.

If Ballard does indeed feel there are 8 premium non-QBs in this draft, I assume they would be Barkley and Nelson on offense, and Chubb, Smith, Edmunds, Ward, James and Fitzpatrick on defense.

So maybe he goes with Smith at #6 (if Chubb's gone) or he trades down again with, say, Buffalo. If he can convince Beane to give up #12 and #22, he might pick one of the DBs at #12 and an LB like Evans or rusher like Landry or Davenport at #22.

Or if Beane won't give up both 1st rounders, maybe Ballard gets #12, #53, #56 and #96 in return, then packages some combination of the extra picks he got from the Jets and Bills to move back up into the 1st round, and still gets an LB or EDGE, or promising OL.

I'm down with that.
