Of course. Because he's only allowed by the NFL to spend a certain amount of it.

Not outside of the salary cap, but we all care if he mismanages the cap.

Continuing to pay a guy who can no longer produce at a high level $20M/year might not blow the cap in and of itself, but it'll go a long way towards that. It's certainly mismanaging the cap b/c we'll have to let better players walk in order to keep him.

Not saying this is definitely the case with Leonard. As most of us have said, give him at least the rest of the season to prove he can get back to the player he used to be. But if Leonard doesn't get much better than what he's shown so far this year then it's probably best to let him go and put the cap savings towards other guys who are more productive.

.

And cutting him now does a couple of things. You are now short a linebacker. Is there a guy who is not signed to another team who the Colts can sign right now and is better than Leonard? Cut Leonard now will trigger contract clauses that will have cap implications.

And who do you put in that roster spot that is better than Leonard.

Who said anything about cutting him right now? I certainly didn't:

You can't get out of the contract and crying about it is just a waste of time. Bottom line, if there is a LBer on the bench that can outplay him, than sit Leonard's ass down and play the sub. If there isn't, just hide him as best you can and hope he gets some of his magic back. How many times must this board post how lousy he's doing? You'd think he was intentionally playing shitty ball and laughing all the way to the bank. Does anyone here believe that?

His ratings and impact are actually on par with the other LB's till this last game, till its seems he pulled a groin. We are just used to the turnover machine that he was and the hof pace he was on. This is a different scheme as well and I wonder if that is having some impact.
