Always been fond of Moncrief. I think the Steelers are a good fit for him.

I wish him well. Jags wasnt a good fit .
Steelers will probably better utilize him.

I’ve been a fan of his talent. He had some bad Luck towards the end of his time in Indy with his injury and then Lucks injury. It just never quite came together for him here ike I thought it would. Definitely hope he puts it all together somewhere.

FatDT 03-14-2019 10:50 AM

I wanted to keep Moncrief but not for the $10M he got.

But then again if I'd known we were going to sign Funchess for $10M + incentives, I probably would've said we should just sign Moncrief. I think playing w/healthy Luck and in Reich's offense would've been good for him.

I am wondering with this news if the freaks banner will now be updated. I thought maybe edgeman was secretly hoping that Moncrief would return to the Colts this offseason after his one year of purgatory in JAX. If Moncrief returned, edgeman wouldn't have had to update the banner. Donte foiled his plans. :D

Always liked Moncrief too. It just seemed like he should have been better than he was, with all the talent he has.

But it's Friday and we had $100 million and all we have to show for it is Funchess, Desir, and Milton

Former Packers safety Kentrell Brice is visiting the Colts today after spending yesterday with the Texans. Bucs also interested after GB opted not to tender him.

anyone know about this guy who is coming in to visit?

UDFA with spot playing time in Green Bay. Did pretty well at the combine. Probably a depth signing. We haven't found our starter yet. Might draft him if they don't resign Geathers. Might draft one anyway even if we sign Geathers, because Geathers has started half his games?

That’s seems very low. I guess Ballard had no interest in him, because it’s hard to believe the money was an issue.

I read somewhere, maybe from Holder, that the Colts saw him as a 3-4 OLB only and not a down lineman.

Yep, that’s what Holder said. Makes sense for TB as they move to a 3-4.

RB Jay Ajayi to visit Colts

Butter 03-16-2019 09:40 PM

I would love a back like Ajayi at the right price. I think we missed having the power back that Turbin was last year.

Coltsalr 03-16-2019 11:29 PM

I like the idea of having Ajayi but I also like our guys.

Bring in Ajayi, but only if it doesn’t potentially jeopardize Wilkins/Hines.

1) Mack
2) Ajayi
3) Hines
4) Wilkins

Looks good to me. They're going to carry 4 RBs anyway.

I don't see them getting rid of Hines, in fact I expect them to utilize him even more this season. Wilkins may be a casualty though if they bring in another back.

That would be stupid. I feel like Wilkins showed a lot of promise.

YDFL Commish 03-17-2019 10:21 AM

I would rather have CJ Anderson or draft Rodney Anderson.

I don’t think ajayi is a power back at all. I think he is a better receiving version of Marlin Mack. Not a lot of difference in running styles at all to me

FatDT 03-17-2019 11:16 AM

Wilkins might be a little better inside runner, but he’s slow. He’ll never do anything at the 2nd level. No reason to pass on an available RB if he’s an upgrade to Wilkins. Without this OL no one would think Wilkins was worth anything.

I like Rodney Anderson, he could be a sleeper for us. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy, but might have an easier time in a rotation. He can do everything a feature back can.

Why would we bring in Ajayi? How many RB's are near their former selves in the first year back from an ACL? Not many.

Because a solid #2 with a similar skillset to Mack is needed in case he goes down and getting that from a 25 yo on a reasonable FA contract rather than needing to spend a draft pick for it is a pretty reasonable idea.

He's a better pass catcher IMO. He should be cheap. If he gets anything I'm sure it'll be a one year deal. Maybe w/team option but I can't imagine his market is very hot. He must just fit Reich's offense well when healthy.

Well he was the feature back on the Eagles championship team for which Reich was OC.

Didn't Sproles do a lot of the damage from the RB position that year though? Hard to believe that little man is still playing.

He's not going to be a solid #2. He's going to be half the RB he was previously this year at best. Why bother? You can find better options than a RB coming off an ACL.

I believe Ajayi was the RB that had the most touches and snaps per game on that team, at least during their playoff run, but I could be wrong.

Well shit, if you can predict the future, tell Ballard which guys in the draft will be All-Pros and Pro Bowlers so he can draft them.

Don't be stupid. You know the numbers for RB's that come back anywhere near their former selves in that first year is incredibly small. The overwhelming odds say he won't be very good this next season, so why sign him and waste a spot?
