BCN = Barcelona Spain. ;) I actually had some insomnia and caught a feed from the 2nd half. Jeebus H Keyrist on crutches! So much adrenaline on that roller coaster ride and also seeing the breaking news on Chucky stepping down... Bank holiday her today but sure a shell paying the price for sitting up and watching utnil 05:30 or so this morning!!! Was hoping we at least had a possesion in OT and hate the sudden death part. |
On a positive note if there is one, Wentz played a hell of a good game.

I'm not ready to call for any coaches to be fired (after reading the last few pages of this thread).
We had Odum playing CB, plus Keyes, Sendejo, and one other 3rd to 4th string level players playing the entire 2nd half. We had to rotate Moore out to CB so that one of these guys who have it easier in the slot. They say injuries are no excuse, but when you're down to PS players who just got activated, they are going to get abused. Keyes got burned badly but how can you blame him? He wasn't ready. We just didn't have the depth. A healthy secondary wins this game. (but so does kicking the PAT instead of going for 2 which didn't make sense mathematically at the time) |

I'm not surprised at what happened defensively. Even from a schematic standpoint, my perception has always been they are essentially trying to mimic the Dungy era defenses. If Irsay wants Eberflus out because he can't stomach the scheme anymore, I completely understand. Calling for the DC's head because the team got fucked up in the worst possible way at the end of the game is somewhat dense, at least IMO. But, the consistent mistakes in relation to passing up field goals and extra points in favor of aggressive moves is no longer excusable by ignorance. These types of decisions consistently hurt the team more than it helps and it's starting to get stupid. |

After a half a day to reflect on this game, it just was a perfect mix of sucky circumstances.
A kicker who was hurt (I think anyway, but also a kicker who doesn't have much power even when he's healthy) A secondary decimated by injuries Pretty conservative playcalling down the stretch and poor clock management at the end (to me, the risk of the Ravens running out of time vs. the reward of having more time to get a FG is heavy on the side of having more time to get into FG range, or even possibly a TD) So while I'm still irritated with Reich, he was dealt a lousy hand with the first two cards there. |
